Bible Study • Jeremiah Chapter 9 • 19 July 2026 This week’s class takes up Jeremiah 9, where the prophet names the root sickness twice — “they do not know Me” (Jer. 9:3, 9:6) — and hands us the one boast that survives it: “that he understands and knows Me” (Jer. 9:24). Paul later routes the whole Gospel through that verse: no flesh may boast, unless it boasts in the Lord (1 Cor. 1:31). Sunday Bible Class meets after the Divine Service, around 10:45 a.m. All are welcome.

19 July 2026 • The Seventh Sunday after Trinity • Mark 8:1–9 “I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat. And if I send them away hungry to their own houses, they will faint on the way; for some of them have come from afar” Mk 8:2–3. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. Notice where we are. Mark tells us, but we might read past it. This is not where we stood the last time Jesus fed a crowd.

This is the whole reason Nehemiah came home — Jerusalem’s broken-down wall rising again, stone on stone, as the returned exiles build with a trowel in one hand and a sword in the other. And in the middle of it, a sound goes up that has nothing to do with the enemy outside the gate. It comes from inside the camp. “There arose a great outcry of the people and of their wives against their Jewish brothers” (Neh 5:1).
