A Cairns man accused of exposing the identity of a Queensland public figure at the centre of a mysterious extortion case has been charged by police with allegedly disobeying a suppression order. The 35-year-old spent most of his weekend locked up in the watch house after he was arrested on Friday night and ordered to shut down his social media accounts which allegedly included posts about the high-profile man, his job and his alleged affair.

Teenage boy pleads guilty to armed rape of woman during Cairns home invasion

A teenage boy has pleaded guilty to repeatedly raping a woman while armed with a tomahawk during a home invasion in Cairns last year. The 16-year-old, who cannot be named, faced the Children's Court in Cairns by video link from a detention centre for an arraignment hearing today. The court heard the boy committed the armed home invasion with two other teenagers at Manunda in Cairns's inner west. One of the other boys, now aged 17, was armed with a knife, the court heard.
