Finland’s Social Democrats move to protect invisible workers of AI

Finland’s Social Democrat Party has approved a pioneering resolution calling for EU-level legislation to protect the rights of unseen AI trainers, data annotators and content moderators on whom the entire artificial intelligence industry depends. The resolution, which was endorsed at the party’s congress at the end of May, outlines how AI development depends on vast amounts of outsourced labour by workers in the Global South – training models, moderating content and cleaning data.
