Zbtb44-mediated transcriptional repression critically regulates colonic inflammation
Abstract The regulatory mechanisms that maintain colonic immune homeostasis remain incompletely understood. Here we show that genetic deletion of Zbtb44, a previously uncharacterized member of the ZBTB transcription factor family, leads to spontaneous colitis and rectal prolapse. Zbtb44−/− T cells expressed increased IFN-γ, a pro-inflammatory cytokine strongly associated with human inflammatory bowel disease.
Domvanalimab plus zimberelimab in unresectable and immunotherapy refractory biliary tract cancers: a phase 2 trial
Abstract T cell immunoglobulin and ITIM domain (TIGIT) is an inhibitory receptor that promotes immune evasion, and dual blockade of TIGIT and PD-1 may restore antitumor immunity. Here we report the primary analysis of the biliary tract cancer cohort from a phase 2 trial (ClinicalTrials.gov registration: NCT05724563) evaluating the Fc-silent anti-TIGIT antibody domvanalimab plus the anti-PD-1 antibody zimberelimab in patients with biliary tract cancers (BTCs) refractory to prior PD-1/L1 therapy.
Polypill for heart failure with reduced ejection fraction: the POLY-HF randomized trial
Abstract Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction carries a poor prognosis. Although guideline-directed medical therapy reduces morbidity and mortality, its real-world utilization is low. Accordingly, we conducted an open-label randomized trial (POLY-HF) at two centers enrolling a predominantly underserved population to test whether a polypill strategy improves cardiac function in heart failure.
Monoclonal antibodies targeting PCDH7 inhibit tumor growth and enhance immune responses in KRAS -mutant non–small cell lung cancer

Abstract INTRODUCTION RESULTS DISCUSSION MATERIALS AND METHODS Acknowledgments Supplementary Materials REFERENCES Information & Authors Metrics & Citations View Options References Figures Tables Media Share Abstract We identified an important oncogenic role for protocadherin 7 (PCDH7), a cell surface protein frequently overexpressed in lung adenocarcinoma and associated with poor clinical outcome. Pcdh7 depletion reduces tumor burden and prolongs survival in KrasLSL-G12D; Tp53fl/fl mice.

Follistatin‐like 1 is a myokine regulating lipid mobilization during endurance exercise and recovery
CONFLICT OF INTEREST STATEMENT The authors declared no conflict of interest. Supporting Information Filename Description oby23949-sup-0001-FigureS1.tifTIFF image, 480.5 KB Figure S1. Schematic representation of endurance exercise experiment. Subject engaged in endurance exercise on a treadmill, expending 300 calories at 70% of their age-predicted HRmax. Standard meals (549 Kcal) were given 4 hours before the exercise; fat biopsies were taken 7–10 days prior to the experiment.
Intraoperative fluid administration volumes during pediatric liver transplantation and postoperative outcomes: A multicenter analysis
Confounders definitions Maximum intraoperative VIS score was included in the model as a potential confounder, whereas maximum postoperative VIS was an exploratory outcome. None of the participating centers had any formal guidelines or policies in place by which to guide vasoactive administration in the perioperative period.
Alcohol Use Among Patients With Cancer and Survivors in the United States, 2000–2017 in: Journal of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Volume 18 Issue 1 (2020)
Background Alcohol use has been identified as a risk factor for several malignancies, including cancers of the head and neck, esophagus, colorectum, liver, and breast.1–3 Epidemiologic studies have shown that higher alcohol consumption over longer time intervals increases an individual’s risk for cancer, and some studies have suggested that even low levels of drinking seem to be associated with the development of certain cancer types.4,5 In addition to the link between alcohol use and cancer...

Elevated TyG Index Predicts Progression of Coronary Artery Calcification
Cardiovascular and Metabolic Risk Abstract OBJECTIVE To investigate the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index association with coronary artery calcification (CAC) progression in adult Koreans. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS Various cardiovascular risk factors and anthropometric profiles were assessed in 1,175 subjects who previously had a CAC evaluation at least twice by multidetector computed tomography in a health care center.
Activity of SL-401, a targeted therapy directed to interleukin-3 receptor, in blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm patients
Introduction Blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) is a rare hematologic malignancy derived from plasmacytoid dendritic cells (PDCs).1 The disease may occur at any age, but most patients are elderly men who present with skin lesions and/or involved lymph nodes, spleen, and bone marrow.2 Diagnosis rests on the blastic or plasmacytoid morphology, expression of CD4/CD56/CD123/other markers restricted to PDCs, and lack of expression of lymphoid, natural killer, or myeloid...
Association between secondhand smoke exposure and hypertension in never smokers: a cross-sectional survey using data from Korean National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey V, 2010-2012 | BMJ Open
Active smoking causes detrimental effects on smokers themselves, but secondhand smoke (SHS) exposure can also harm innocent bystanders. About 85% of SHS exposure results from sidestream smoke, which rises from the tip of a burning cigarette. 4 Sidestream smoke is potentially more harmful because it is not filtered. In recent years, the public has paid more attention to the harmful effect of SHS exposure on cardiovascular diseases 5 and supportive evidence is accumulating.
Prospective randomized comparison of clinical and angiographic outcomes between everolimus-eluting vs. zotarolimus-eluting stents for treatment of coronary restenosis in drug-eluting stents: intravascular ultrasound volumetric analysis (RESTENT-ISR trial)
Aims At present no proven standard treatment for drug-eluting stent (DES) restenosis is available, and the efficacy and safety of everolimus-eluting stent (EES) and zotarolimus-eluting stent (ZES) for DES restenosis are limited.

AbstractIntroduction: Muscle wasting is one of the important extrapulmonary features reflects exercise capacity and physical activity in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).Aims and Objectives: We analyzed correlations between muscle wasting and COPD severity, quality of life, and systemic inflammatory markers. Methods: Eighty patients with COPD were enrolled.
Evaluating Outcomes Disparities in the Hispanic Cystic Fibrosis Population: A Need for a National Analysis
After approval by the Institutional Review Board at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (Institutional Review Board protocol STU 022015-002), we analyzed patients with CF seen at our center between 2010 and 2014. A total of 475 patients with CF were included in our analysis (Hispanics n = 63, 13.3%; Fig 1). Clinical outcomes measured were CF exacerbations and yearly decline in FEV .
