Hemodynamic variations in resting-state cerebral functional networks between Tibetan and Han male athletes assessed by fNIRS
Abstract This study seeks to compare systemic variations in functional connectivity within core motor brain regions at rest between young male soccer players from the indigenous Tibetan population of the Tibetan Plateau and their counterparts from the Han population of the plains, to elucidate the intrinsic relationship between specific ethnic backgrounds and central nervous system hemodynamic phenotypes.
Thymopentin enhances adenoviral oncolytic therapy by regulating macrophages and CD8 + T cells
Abstract Oncolytic viruses are cancer therapies that selectively replicate in tumors, deliver therapeutic genes, and stimulate immune responses. Combining these viruses with immune-boosting agents could enhance their effectiveness. Thymopentin (TP5), an immune-modulating peptide, may enhance the antitumour efficacy of ADV. We tested TP5 combined with adenovirus type 5 in tumor models, measuring tumor growth and immune changes using flow cytometry and antibody-based cell depletion.
In situ extended immune activation instantly after tumor resection by oncolytic virus controls postoperative tumor recurrence
Keywords tumor recurrence oncolytic virus hydrogel tumor immunotherapy immune activation type I interferon pathway anti-tumor immunity oncolytic adenovirus supramolecular hydrogel sustained release Introduction Tumors are major diseases that threaten human health and life.1 Surgical resection of the tumor mass is often the first choice for patients who have the opportunity for surgery.
Dynamic rigidity changes enable rapid cell migration on soft substrates - Nature Communications
Abstract Cell migration is crucial in various biological processes, regulated by surrounding rigidity. Studies under static conditions suggest migration favors rigid substrates, as softer substrates (<4 kPa) do not provide sufficient traction forces. Here we show that mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) can overcome this limitation when exposed to rapid cyclic changes in substrate rigidity.
Thymosin α1 reverses oncolytic adenovirus-induced M2 polarization of macrophages to improve antitumor immunity and therapeutic efficacy
Keywords thymosin α1 oncolytic virus oncolytic adenovirus M2 polarization M1 polarization tumor associated macrophages TAM regulatory T cells Tregs tumor immunotherapy tumor microenvironment TAM reprogramming Introduction Cancer is a major disease affecting human health and has become the second leading cause of death worldwide.1 Over the past few decades, many cancer immunotherapies, including monoclonal antibodies, adoptive cell therapies, checkpoint inhibitors, and oncolytic viruses (OVs),...
In vitro simulated digestion and fermentation behaviors of polysaccharides from Pleurotus cornucopiae and their impact on the gut microbiota
In vitro simulated digestion and fermentation behaviors of polysaccharides from Pleurotus cornucopiae and their impact on the gut microbiota† This study investigated the physicochemical characteristics and fermentative behavior between original polysaccharides (PCPs) and polysaccharides extracted after microwave cooking (MPCPs) from Pleurotus cornucopiae during simulated digestion and fecal fermentation.
Acid and Hypoxia Tandem‐Activatable Deep Near‐Infrared Nanoprobe for Two‐Step Signal Amplification And Early Detection of Cancer
Abstract The early detection of cancers can significantly change outcomes even with existing treatments. However, ∼50% of cancers still cannot be detected until they reach an advanced stage, highlighting the great challenges in the early detection. Here, w e report on an ultrasensitive deep near-infrared (NIR) nanoprobe that is successively responsive to tumor acidity and hypoxia.
Terahertz inner and outer edge modes in a tetramer of strongly coupled spoof localized surface plasmons
Abstract Photonic edge mode confining light in cavities of surface plasmons is beneficial in image and biosensor applications. In the terahertz band, however, the edge mode in a cavity of spoof localized surface plasmons has not matured sufficiently. Herein, a cost-effective strategy to achieve a terahertz photonic edge mode using a metasurface of strongly coupled fourfold spoof localized surface plasmons in a tetramer layout is demonstrated.
Effect of amorphous ternary AlBN passivations on the performance of AlGaN/GaN HEMTs
Open In this article, an amorphous ternary AlBN dielectric passivation layer is proposed for GaN/AlGaN high-electron mobility transistors (HEMTs). The source–gate–drain access regions with both AlBN and AlN amorphous dielectric films deposited by pulsed laser deposition are investigated to understand their effects on the device performance.
