Strategy vs. Planning: Understanding the Difference in OCM
What’s the difference between strategy and planning? Have you ever watched a cooking show? The judges sample the prepared dishes. By my guess, 80% of the time, the judges ask, “Did you add salt?” Salt: your doctor may not like it, but it certainly adds flavor to what you’re cooking. In fact, in ancient times, slabs of salt were so valued that they were used as currency. So, what does salt have to do with strategic planning?

Mitigating Resistance Through Effective Change Management Strategies
Resistance: we all know what it is, and we’ve experienced it in some shape or form in our daily lives. We’ve even seen it sensationalized on the big screen, with Luke Skywalker leading the charge against the empire – you know, “May the force be with you.”It’s also highly likely you’ve experienced resistance to change management within your organization.
Establishing Change Management KPIs | Clarkston Consulting
As with any endeavor, KPIs are critical to understanding and communicating your progress toward the stated objective. Change management KPIs are no different. Every business has heard of KPIs, or key performance indicators. But how do we use them, and what can they show us? If you think about it, KPIs are part of our daily lives. ESPN uses KPIs to discuss athletes’ performances and progress throughout the season, such as Steph Curry’s 3-point shooting percentage.
The IRS Issues Proposed Regulations That Clarifies When Your Steak And Wine Is Tax Deductible While Your Hunting Retreat Is Not
Frequently, a business deal is ironed out away from the office. People get to know each other over dinner while the local jazz band is playing on stage. Details are discussed during a round of golf. Candid and confidential opinions can be disclosed at a ball game, usually after a few beers. Before 2018, 50% of food and entertainment expenses incurred for a business purpose were tax-deductible. But after the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, entertainment expenses are no longer tax deductible.
Former Senator Takes ACS Helm
(Photo by Darren Hauck/Getty Images) It’s always been a little unfair to characterize the American Constitution Society as the “liberal Federalist Society” because while both hold events inviting speakers to law school campuses to discuss the law, ACS stops short of sucking in massive dark money donations to dictate and push judicial appointments for the administration.
Partners Shouldn’t Show Favoritism Toward Associates
Even though people may say that they don’t have favorites, favoritism is a fact of life for all of us. As one of five boys (I’m a triplet and my older brothers are twins, if you can believe it), I could tell that my late parents liked some of their kids more than others, even if they said they didn’t have favorites. It’s just natural that individuals get along better with certain types of people, and it is hard to avoid having favorites among a group.

This Law School’s Unfortunate Bar Passage Distinction
According to bar passage data release by the American Bar Association, the law school that had the lowest percentage of first-time test takers pass the July 2019 bar exam was Western Michigan University Cooley Law School. Bar Exam Nightmares: What’s The Worst Thing You’ve Seen?

Don’t Get Rickrolled: Words Of Copyright Caution For Video Game Developers
Sometimes even doing everything right gets something wrong. When it comes to video game development, this statement is right on point. It should come as no surprise to those in the video game development and publishing community that a host of considerations must be weighed when developing a video game.
Preparing For The Future: Innovation Through Incremental Change
As we start 2020, many would (reasonably) argue that the tech disruption of the legal industry is well underway. The pessimists among us, however, will argue that change has been relatively incremental. At a macro level, they would argue that law continues to be practiced in much the same manner as it always has been in the modern era. Where, they would question, is the dramatic change? Where are Tomorrow’s Lawyers?

Your Spirit Animal Is The California Forest Fires: Write Briefs That People Remember And Get the Job Done
A lawyer friend of mine once told me that if he ever needed a litigator for himself, I’d be his first call because I’m not satisfied by winning or even my adversary losing. I’m not happy, he said, until I’ve made my adversary eat his own eyeballs and left him living in a lice-infested shack in the bad part of town, addicted to heroin to drown out the screaming in his head. Of course, I don’t actually want to hurt my adversary.
