We appreciate the interest from Todd and co-authors regarding our paper, entitled “Perinatal antibiotic exposure and risk of childhood infections: a retrospective cohort study”.1 We wish to respond to the following points: First, we deliberately designed the study to investigate perinatal antibiotics, i.e. antibiotic administered around the time of birth, excluding other antibiotic exposures during pregnancy.
