The City of Regina will once again be releasing thousands of ladybugs this summer as part of its plan to control aphids across the city. On Thursday, July 9th over 200,000 ladybugs will be given to children and adults for release in yards or nearby parks. The event is free to attend and it gives children the opportunity to learn about the importance of ladybugs in nature and how they control aphids, which can damage plants and trees if unchecked.

Several communities in east-central Saskatchewan and west-central Manitoba have been forced cancel or postpone events over the past week thanks torrential rains and significant flooding. The Sheho Sports Day, Mud fling, and Ranch Rodeo is the latest event to be postponed after excessive rainfall in the area.

Canada will celebrate its 159th birthday today and that means there will several activities and schedule changes throughout the City of Regina. Wascana Park will be home to celebrations from 8:30am until 11pm near the Saskatchewan Legislature building. The come-and-go event includes food trucks, concerts, and several family activities. The day will conclude with fireworks (weather permitting) starting at 10:30pm.
