Police searching for suspect after man shot on MARTA train

This story comes to Rough Draft through a content partnership with Channel 2 Action News. Channel 2 Action News MARTA police are currently investigating a shooting at the Midtown MARTA station. Channel 2’s Courtney Francisco is at the station where police have it surrounded. Police says shots were fired on a train stopped at the southbound platform of the station on 10th Street at 7 p.m. A man was shot in the left arm and leg and taken to the hospital, where he is said to be in stable condition.

West side of I-285 closing again for weekend road work

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will once again close a portion of I-285 on the west side for weekend road work. The full closure – both northbound and southbound – will be located between  State Route 139/Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive (exit 9) and Cascade Road (exit 7) in Fulton County. The closure will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, June 5, and remain in place until 5 a.m. Monday, June 8.

State Election Board passes resolution allowing counties to switch to hand-marked ballots

This story comes to Rough Draft through a content partnership with Georgia Recorder Georgia’s State Election Board has advanced a resolution seeking to implement hand-marked paper ballots ahead of the November 2026 general election, contradicting guidelines from the secretary of state’s office directing counties to continue using Georgia’s current voting machines. The resolution, which is not binding, was introduced by newly appointed Vice Chair Janelle King and passed in a 3-1 vote Thursday.
