June 11, 2026, 11:08 a.m. ET University of Vermont Health cut 142 jobs in a move the network described as part of its ongoing restructuring. The reductions were necessary, the hospital system said in a June 9 news release, to close a $300 million financial gap. The hospital system said it's losing about $460,000 a day. “The majority of these workforce reductions are in areas not providing direct patient care, with targeted clinical changes where necessary,” the system said in the press release.
