The pond was once the center of a bustling village called Waterford Hollow, which included mills, a church and a hotel. Today, Stiles Pond serves as a water reservoir for St. Johnsbury and is a spot for fishing, birding and kayaking. Visitors can see remnants of the original Stiles homestead and a historic cemetery containing graves of early settlers.
