We Finally Made It to The Bell Museum

It was absolutely worth the wait. I’ve been stoked to visit St. Paul’s newly minted Bell Museum since I learned that it was the go-to spot for anything and everything related to space in Minnesota. Sadly, it’s taken me four years to actually get to the museum but after learning that this weekend the museum was hosting their annual Space Fest event with actual former NASA astronauts speaking — I had to make it happen.

Trooper thought fleeing driver 'might make a mistake.' The chase killed a Tulsa mother and her child

A state trooper, worried about being out-accelerated by a possibly stolen truck, said he wanted to see what his SUV was capable of in a pursuit while thinking the fleeing driver "might make a mistake." The eluder's mistake did end the chase on Feb. 25, 2021, when he plowed into a family's Chevrolet Tahoe at highway speeds on a busy street in east Tulsa. A Tulsa mother, 31, and her 12-year-old daughter were killed instantly.

Crimes worth the crash? 18 people killed in 5 years of OHP pursuits

In the past five years, 18 people were killed in Oklahoma Highway Patrol vehicular pursuits that some experts believe were based on crimes too minor to be worth the chase. All but one of the fatal pursuits started with stolen property or traffic violations, despite policy requiring troopers to weigh whether the benefits of apprehension are worth the risks of a chase. At least eight of those killed weren't the eluding drivers.
