Air quality alert issued for most of Minnesota due to ozone levels

An air quality alert has been issued due to ozone for a large chunk of Minnesota through the weekend. The alert took effect at noon on Saturday and will run until 11 p.m. on Sunday, according to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA).

Flight bound for Arkansas returns to MSP due to possible engine issue

A flight bound for Arkansas returned to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) on Saturday afternoon due to a possible engine problem. SkyWest Airlines said that flight 4122, operating as a Delta connection from Minneapolis to Bentonville, Arkansas, returned to MSP after takeoff due to an “indication of an engine issue.” The flight landed safely, and passengers deplaned normally at the gate. “The safety of our customers and crew always comes first.

2 new wildfires reported in BWCA east of Crane Lake

One of the fires is located near the east end of Lac La Croix, 22 miles east of Crane Lake, and the second is east of Loon Lake on the LaCroix Ranger District, 11 miles east of Crane Lake. Officials say that firefighting resources are assessing suppression options, and more updates will be provided soon. The public is being asked to stay out of the area, with authorities adding that Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and drones are not allowed near the fire area.
