Council to vote on naming rights for the Watertown ice rink

WATERTOWN — Northern Federal Credit Union will soon have its name on the Watertown Municipal Arena. The City Council is expected to approve an agreement on Monday night for the credit union to spend $100,000 for the naming rights of the arena. On June 2, the credit union was the high bidder when sealed bids were opened. In April, the purchasing department issued a request for proposals, or RFP, looking for someone to rename the city’s ice rink at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.

Stewart’s project across from Watertown Target stalls again

WATERTOWN — The proposed Stewart’s Shops that would be built across from Target in the town hit another snag on Thursday night. The Town Council voted, 4-1, against an eight-point agreement with the Ballston Spa company, Thirty One Development LLC, whose principal is developer P.J. Simao and the town to build a road for the convenience store. Councilman Mike Perkins cast the only vote for the agreement. The council discussed the agreement in an executive session before the vote.
