KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. — We’re learning more about a plane crash Thursday in Klamath County and how a local man pulled the pilot away from the flaming wreckage. It happened around 9:15 Thursday morning near Hill Road and Crystal Springs Road. The Klamath County Sheriff’s Office says a crop duster operated by Gus Macy appears to have hit a radio tower. Local cattle rancher Caleb Knoll tells NBC5 News he saw the plane disappear from view and then saw the plume of smoke.

KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore.– Crews on the Wrights Spring Fire in Klamath County have completed a line around the entire perimeter of the fire. The 54,131-acre fire burning south of Sprague River Highway and east of Chiloquin is now 55% contained. Numerous evacuation warnings are still in effect according to the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office. The cause of the fire that began August 6th is still under investigation.

ROGUE RIVER, Ore. — Firefighters on the Fielder Mountain Fire are stopping its growth while continuing to increase containment. The 573-acre fire west of Rogue River had no evacuation warnings in effect Thursday. It started last Thursday, August 13TH alongside Interstate-5. ODF says the 911 caller said a semi-truck tire caught fire on the interstate, but it’s still under investigation.
