Kota Kinabalu: Sabah should stop trying to replicate development models from places such as Singapore, Hong Kong or even Peninsular Malaysia, and instead focus on solutions tailored to its own strengths and challenges, according to economist Tan Sri Andrew Sheng (pic). Speaking on the Daily Express Sabah Matters podcast, Sheng said development strategies must be based on what best suits Sabah’s unique circumstances rather than copying approaches that succeeded elsewhere.

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s future economic success will depend as much on governance and leadership as investment and market forces, said Financial Advisor to the Sabah Government, Tan Sri Andrew Sheng. Drawing lessons from past financial crises, Sheng said many economic problems are rooted in political and governance issues rather than weaknesses in markets alone.
