Spin-photon entanglement with direct photon emission in the telecom C-band - Nature Communications
Abstract Quantum networks, relying on the distribution of quantum entanglement between remote locations, have the potential to transform quantum computation and secure long-distance quantum communication. However, a fundamental ingredient for fibre-based implementations of such networks, namely entanglement between a single spin and a photon directly emitted at telecom wavelengths, has been unattainable so far.
Coherent light scattering from a telecom C-band quantum dot - Nature Communications
Abstract Quantum networks have the potential to transform secure communication via quantum key distribution and enable novel concepts in distributed quantum computing and sensing. Coherent quantum light generation at telecom wavelengths is fundamental for fibre-based network implementations, but Fourier-limited emission and subnatural linewidth photons have so far only been reported from systems operating in the visible to near-infrared wavelength range.

High electron mobility and low noise quantum point contacts in an ultra-shallow all-epitaxial metal gate GaAs/AlxGa1−xAs heterostructure

Organisational characteristics of informed decision-making implementation in mammography screening programmes in 28 European countries
Background: Although much research has been published on interventions designed to facilitate informed decision-making in mammography screening few comparable data is available regarding the approaches taken by screening programmes towards real-world implementation. Therefore, this study aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of the situation by exploring the characteristics of how mammography screening programmes in Europe address informed decision-making.
Quantum teleportation using highly coherent emission from telecom C-band quantum dots
Abstract A practical way to link separate nodes in quantum networks is to send photons over the standard telecom fibre network. This requires sub-Poissonian photon sources in the wavelength band around 1550 nm, with photon coherence times sufficient to enable the many interference-based technologies at the heart of quantum networks.
Momentum-dependent power law measured in an interacting quantum wire beyond the Luttinger limit
Abstract Power laws in physics have until now always been associated with a scale invariance originating from the absence of a length scale. Recently, an emergent invariance even in the presence of a length scale has been predicted by the newly-developed nonlinear-Luttinger-liquid theory for a one-dimensional (1D) quantum fluid at finite energy and momentum, at which the particle’s wavelength provides the length scale.
Detection of alpha‐synuclein conformational variants from gastro‐intestinal biopsy tissue as a potential biomarker for Parkinson's disease
Gastrointestinal (GI) α‐synuclein (aSyn) detection as a potential biomarker of Parkinson's disease (PD) is challenged by conflicting results of recent studies. To increase sensitivity and specificity, we applied three techniques to detect different conformations of aSyn in GI biopsies obtained from a longitudinal, clinically well‐characterized cohort of PD patients and healthy controls (HC). A total of 163 tissue blocks were collected from 51 PD patients (113 blocks) and 21 HC (50 blocks).

Detection of alpha‐synuclein conformational variants from gastro‐intestinal biopsy tissue as a potential biomarker for Parkinson's disease
This study was designed to tackle the limitations and issues emerging from previous studies on GI aSyn detection as a potential biomarker for PD. We detected aSyn in paraffin‐embedded GI biopsies from longitudinally followed PD patients and healthy controls (HC) participating in the Oxford Discovery study 23 using three different techniques: conventional IHC, our recently developed Proximity Ligation Assay for aSyn (AS‐PLA) 24 and Paraffin Embedded Tissue Blot for aSyn (AS‐PET‐blot) 25 .
GENDER DIFFERENCES IN PRESENTATION AND OUTCOME OF VASOVAGAL SYNCOPE: A POST HOC ANALYSIS OF THE PREVENTION OF SYNCOPE TRIALS (POST) I AND II

FiguresVasovagal syncope is the loss of consciousness due to decreased heart rate(HR) and blood pressure(BP) from increased parasympathetic tone and concomitant inhibition of sympathetic outflow. It occurs in >40% of Canadians, however differences in presentation and outcomes between male and female patients are not understood.
