Tensions between different generations have existed for literal millennia. Aristotle wrote, back in the 4th century B.C.E., So it’s clear that relationships have always been strained between the older and the younger members of society, but the way we talk about these things has changed since Aristotle’s time. Nowadays, instead of the conflict being “the Elders” vs “the Youths”, all we hear about is “Boomers” vs “Gen X” vs “Millennials” vs “Gen Z” and so on.
