Abstract Thrombotic risk assessment is crucial in newly diagnosed essential thrombocythemia (ET) and polycythemia vera (PV) patients to guide cytoreductive therapy. We assessed whether thromboinflammation biomarkers would be good candidates to improve thrombosis risk stratification. We prospectively enrolled 394 newly diagnosed, cytoreductive therapy–naïve, ET and PV patients.

To the Editor, Secondary acute myeloid leukemia (AML), that is AML arising after prior exposure to cytotoxic therapy (tAML, therapy-related AML) and/or antecedent hematological disorder (AHD), has generally been associated with a worse prognosis in comparison to de novo AML. Abstract Genetic analyses have been included in scoring systems to improve the prognostic stratification of hematologic malignancies. Until now, molecular risk scores have not been included into the practical management of patients with polycythemia vera (PV). In this work, we studied 439 PV patients recruited from 15 French centers and described their mutational landscape using high-throughput sequencing.
