Walks. They’ve been a huge part of my life in the past few years since covid. Not that I didn’t go for walks before, but walks kept me sane during covid lockdowns.My writing career was on a roll, so hours spent in front of the laptop left me dizzy and walks in nature proved the right antidote. (The Singapore government allowed people to walk on the streets and in parks as long as it wasn’t in large groups.) That was when I got addicted to walking: phone in hand and bluetooth pods firmly in place.

What's Your Advice for Me on My 18th Blog Anniversary? #IWSG

It’s official. My blog is an adult now. In blog years, it’s practically ancient. When I started writing on this blog eighteen years ago, writing was a pastime for me, like any other. Blogs were not yet out of fashion in 2008, and I needed the writing practice. Three published (and several unpublished) books and dozens of published short stories later, I can now laugh at the number of daily words I considered good: two hundred and fifty. At five hundred I wanted to pat my back.

There’s so much I need to tell you all, but it’s been a rough road on the internet with my blog being scraped off, right, left, and center. I haven’t had the physical, emotional and financial bandwidth to protect this space from all kinds of human and non-human plagiarism, so this safe space has atrophied a little. Suffice it to say I’ve been having a few difficult years (death in the family, career reversals, friendship losses) and am taking some much-needed time away from social media.
