How midsize companies are building AI-native operations
Dan Gilbert for Brainlabs How midsize companies are building AI-native operations Corporate AI adoption has reached a turning point. According to McKinsey's 2025 Global Survey on AI, 78% of respondents say their organizations use AI in at least one business function, up from 55% the year prior. Yet for most mid-to-large companies, that adoption looks like a collection of individual subscriptions, disconnected experiments, and a tips-for-prompting PDF sent round by IT.

Detroit is no longer talking about its potential. It’s living up to the moment
Detroit is no longer an underdog story. We’re 15 years in, and it feels like we are just getting started. No American city today offers a greater opportunity to build, invest and grow than Detroit. Over the past decade, more than $10 billion in private and philanthropic capital has been committed to our future.

Club members loaded donated freshly cooked food and other tasty treats for the annual Super Bowl party the club sponsors for veterans living at Homes For The Brave (men) and Madaras Home for Women Veterans in Bridgeport. Weston residents were very generous on November 23 when members of Weston’s Kiwanis Club and the high school Key Club reached out to customers at Lily’s Weston Market and the Weston Pharmacy to stock the Weston Food Pantry with nutritious and hearty shelf-stable food and personal care products. It was wonderful seeing parents and their children donating food and personal care products to help their neighbors.
Dan Gilbert: Why do I care about transit? Just ask young people.
I am often asked why I care about regional transit. The answer is simple — ask young people. This very publication previously surveyed 400 millennials to uncover what improvements they hoped to see in the community. The answer was clear — a remarkable 73% cited regional transit as their No. 1 priority, far surpassing every other item on their wish list. But we don’t even need to ask. Just look around.

A presidency like no other: interview with I. Stephanie Boyce
As we enter the closing months of her presidency, I. Stephanie Boyce says she doesn’t always care to look back. Her inauguration as president set historical milestones and her term has been like no other. She stepped up as president ahead of schedule, at short notice, and has contended with many societal and legal changes, namely the continuing pandemic, the introduction of the solicitors qualifying exam and the closure of the solicitors indemnity fund.
"You're under pressure to stop clients from being tortured or killed": an anonymous immigration solicitor speaks
Feature 23 Jun 2023 4 minutes read An anonymous immigration solicitor dealing with some of the most challenging legal aid cases speaks out about vicarious trauma from helping torture victims, pressures reaching billable targets and working with the government. I always wanted to pursue a career in human rights. I had this amazing sociology teacher in secondary school who was passionate about it.
What's going on with the in-house job market?
The last few years have seen an everchanging landscape in the in-house legal job market. Hybrid working and economic changes have made for a changing picture, marred by periods of uncertainty, and repaired by growth. Making sense of it all is Tom Bagley, Head of In-House Legal, Risk and Compliance Recruitment at Douglas Scott Recruitment, a legal recruitment firm, which covers the whole of the UK. Tom has worked there for over six years but has been in the recruitment field for almost a decade.
Opening up; stress, pressure and mental ill-health in private practice
Talking about mental health and sharing that you’re struggling in the workplace can be a daunting prospect. Although society has progressed past many stigmas, some people still have concerns about being perceived as less able. This may be a particular concern in private practice, where it’s commonplace for solicitors to undertake complex work over long hours each day. Life in a small firm Sam Ennor has worked at Earl and Crocker, a small private client firm based in Cornwall, since she was 16.

The Cavs did not release terms. The 37-year-old Altman signed a three-year contract in 2017, not long after he took over on an interim basis when the club parted with previous GM David Griffin, who guided the Cavs to an NBA title in 2016.

Letter: What is the state of our state?
We all know people who’ve moved from our state citing high taxes. We see more and more empty retail space. We drive by what appear to be an ever increasing number of “For Sale” signs on Weston properties. So what’s the state of our state?
Detroit 2.0: It's Real and It's Happening Now
As you may have read, we (as in our entire organization from top to bottom) are like the pig at breakfast when it comes to Motown: Or as those who play Texas Hold Em’ like to say: And this time, we can turn out the lights for good. (If the electric company doesn’t already do us the favor because we won’t be able to pay our bills.) It’s not only a generation we are trying to save from fleeing to the likes of Chicago, NY, San Francisco, Boston or South Beach (God forbid!).
Heat owner classy in disappointment
Miami Heat owner Micky Arison handled the disappointment of losing LeBron James much better than Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert did four years ago. Arison expressed his shock after learning James will leave the Heat after four seasons and two championships to return to the Cavs with a message on Twitter. James does leave Arison with those two titles, but losing the game’s greatest player will cost the Heat and Arison untold millions in revenue in the years to come.

From the street level, emergency sirens whir up to the 10th floor of the gleaming One Campus Martius building where Dan Gilbert has his office as Quicken Loans Inc. and Rock Ventures LLC founder and chairman. It's a surprising sound in the downtown that the billionaire baron of mortgages and real estate — and a player in industries as niche as luxury watches, a rap lyric annotation website, a sort of stock market for sneakers, and football helmets — has played a key role in remaking in six years.

We did not expect that an extensive report of an earlier design concept of the Hudson’s site would appear in the media. Since it did appear, we are releasing this more refined conceptual rendering looking north on Woodward Avenue near Gratiot. While we are excited about the direction of this concept, it is important to note that the design of the beloved Hudson’s site on Woodward Avenue in the heart of downtown Detroit is still evolving.

We must continue building the kind of environment that allows jobs and wealth to be created. At the end of the day, the only thing that will enable the city to be fiscally responsible and experience significant growth is to develop a positive climate that encourages innovation at all levels.
The surprising science of happiness
Dan Gilbert, author of "Stumbling on Happiness," challenges the idea that we'll be miserable if we don't get what we want. Our "psychological immune system" lets us feel truly happy even when things don't go as planned.
