Ace Combat 8: Wings Of Theve Review
While the Ace Combat franchise has been around for 30 years now, I didn’t get introduced to it until Ace Combat: Assault Horizon in 2011. Since then, it’s been one of my favorite franchises, so naturally Ace Combat 8: Wings Of Theve has been high on my most anticipated list since it was announced. Now that it is here, how does it stack up in a loaded 2026? The short answer is a resounding yes, Ace Combat 8: Wings Of Theve is one the best games of the year.

PlayStation Network Currently Down Worldwide
Toddy is supposed to be a pretty big day for PlayStation with the Marvel Tokon Open Beta starting up. Unfortunately for many it is impossible to access anything on PlayStation as the PlayStation Network is down for many users worldwide. At this point we aren’t sure just how widespread it is but thousands of users are flooding social media to say they cannot log in.
National Redwing Dinghy Championship at Looe Sailing Club Original
National Redwing Dinghy Championship at Looe Sailing Club by Dan Jackson 19 Jul 19:56 BST A fine looking fleet of National Redwing dinghies assembled in Looe for the class national championships on July 4th and 5th. Fantastic weather greeted the fleet at the legendry home of the Redwing where the class was born in 1947. On the Saturday two races were held in a light and shifty northerly breeze with some real snakes and ladder wind shifts coming off the land.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Announced
It wouldn’t be this time of year without a new Call Of Duty being announced. This year it’s Infinity Wards turn and they are indeed heading back to its legendary Modern Warfare series for Modern Warfare 4. This will be the first Modern Warfare game since 2023’s Modern Warfare 3 which was one of the few Call Of Duty games to be almost universally disliked. If the first trailer is anything to go by, Infinity Ward looks to be back on top of their game.

There are art books, plushes, a couple of vinyl albums and much more.
Tides Of Tomorrow Review
In the world of gaming, creating something completely unique is rare. It’s not that there aren’t new IPs or anything like that, but often times a game fits a specific mold and will use commonly used game mechanics. So when DigixArt announced Tides of Tomorrow and showed off a more advanced, unique version of asynchronous multiplayer, I was instantly intrigued to see how they pulled it off. I’m happy to say for the most part, they have.
Under Par Golf Architect Review
In the late 90s and early 2000’s when Sid Meier was the king of the sim genre, Firaxis games was making every type of sim imaginable. One of those games was 2002’s SimGolf. It released during the height of Tiger mania and as a 14 year old I was super excited to build my own golf course. Nearly 25 years later developer Broken Arm Games is looking to recreate that magic with Under Par Golf Architect, but the results are mixed.

Disciples: Domination Review
I’ve long been a fan of Kalypso Media and what they publish, particularly in the simulation genre. Known for series like Tropico and Port Royale, the focus of late from them has been more in other genres. When Disciples: Domination was announced I was intrigued, but I knew nothing about the series or the first game of the current trilogy, Disciples: Liberation. Could I play a sequel to a game I hadn’t played? And if I could, would I enjoy it? The answer for the most part is yes indeed.
Disciples: Domination Reviews
Disciples: Domination does not upend what already works about the series. It moves Empress Avyanna’s narrative in a new direction and adds nuance and depth to all the game’s systems. There are a lot of mechanics at play, from combat to RPG-like elements to diplomacy, and they work together well and add up to a rich experience. Read full review With significantly skimpier content and only a few innovations, Disciples: Domination feels more like an expansion than a full-fledged sequel.
Can Big Tech save Northumberland?
Big techBlythdata centreNorthumberlandSocietyUK Blyth Power Station dominated my horizons as a kid. Quite literally, in fact, as I could see it from my bedroom window in the old pit village of New Hartley. It seems hard to believe now, but at bedtime my parents would encourage me — as if I was a child in a Soviet propaganda film — to say “night, night power station”.

Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer Game Announced
I’ve always been a big fan of Christmas and prepare early, but even I wasn’t expecting to be talking about a Christmas classic in July, but here we are. GameMill Entertainment has announced the Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer game. The game is based on the classic movie of the same name. Players will embark on a holiday quest to save Christmas in a platforming adventure. It is sure to give adult gamers a nostalgia kick while also bringing in younger kids to the classic via gaming.
High On Life 2 Announced
High On Life took the gaming world by storm late in 2022. While it had a lot of humor and looked fun, critics didn’t seem to take much of a liking to it. The community on the other hand by in large loved it. Well today during the Xbox Showcase, Squanch Games announced a sequel with High On Life 2. The sequel, which is set for a winter 2025 release date, looks to be more of what made High On Life so special to begin with. The crazy, talking guns are back, as is the vibrant world and chaotic gameplay.
Doom: The Dark Ages Review
The Doom franchise has been around for around 30 years. It’s seen its share of reboots over that time and in a way Doom: The Dark Ages is yet another reboot. While it still feels similar to 2016’s reboot and the Doom Eternal sequel, there’s enough here to make it feel new and rejuvenated. Doom: The Dark Ages is a much grittier and dark entry into the Doom franchise. Serving as a prequel to the 2016 reboot, Doom Slayer is being used as a weapon by humans, the Sentinels, against the hordes of hell.
Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 2 Review
When Tape 1 ended on Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, I was eager for more. The first Tape had left a lot of holes in the plot that needed to be filled and we had to wait 2 months for them to be filled, the downfall of a staggered, episodic release. With Tape 2 finally here, did it do enough to bring everything together? For me it’s an emphatic yes.
South Of Midnight Review
To say I’ve been eagerly awaiting South Of Midnight would be an understatement. After playing Compulsion Games previous game, We Happy Few, at launch and being blown away by their creativity they shot up the top of my list of favourite studios. Unfortunately that game was plagued by bugs. With the financial backing of Microsoft would South Of Midnight take Compulsion to new heights, or would they lose their identity in the process? I was eager to find out.
PlayStation SVP Of Global Partnerships Suggests They Had Deal With Black Myth Wukong
The curious case of what happened behind the scenes of Black Myth: Wukong suddenly skipping Xbox has been a story with many twists and turns. A recent inter or has now added another layer to it with a suggestion that PlayStation had some sort of deal with the developer. In an interview posted directly on Sony Interactive on March 27th Phil Rosenberg, the outgoing SVP of Global Partner Development and Relations for PlayStation talked about his 20 years at the company and his stepping away.
Hypercharge: Unboxed Coming To PlayStation 4 & 5

PlayStation Hit With More Layoffs
Unfortunately the layoffs around the gaming industry continue as today PlayStation has laid off workers at their Visual Arts studio. As first reported by Kotaku the layoffs come from employees who were working on recently canceled games such as Bend’s live service game as well as cuts from elsewhere. The current number of people affected is currently unknown. Visual Arts is based out of San Diego.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii Review
It’s been 10 years since Goro Majima was last given center stage in the LAD franchise with Yakuza 0. Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii makes a case for him being a more common protagonist in future games however, as it’s a blast from start to finish and is a better take on the series old formula than The Man Who Erased His Name was.
Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 1 Review
Since Don’t Nod’s debut game Remember Me (do you?) in 2013 I’ve been a huge fan of their games. While storytelling in gaming has come a long ways, it’s still not quite at the level of other entertainment mediums. However Don’t Nod has always told great stories above all else, and I appreciate that. Does Lost Records: Bloom & Rage add to that legacy? Let’s find out.
Xbox Game Pass To Lose 8 More Games February
While everyone eagerly anticipates Avowed (it’s excellent by the way) next week if they didn’t get the premium upgrade, there is some bad news to pass along in regards to games leaving Xbox Game Pass. The service is set to lose another 8 games in February. This wave of games leaving has a few pretty big games as well so it will likely sting a bit for some. At least it’s not as RPG heavy as it’s been of late. All 8 games will be leaving the service February 28th.
Sega Has Seemingly Cancelled Two Point Museum Physical Edition On Xbox
Physical releases, especially on Xbox have slowly become less common this generation as more gamers switch to all digital consumption. While Xbox themselves have been releasing fewer physical versions of their own published games, most other major publishers still supported physical on the platform. That is apparently changing now as Sega has reportedly pulled the plug on Two Point Museum’s physical release on Xbox.

7 Games Leaving Game Pass February
While Xbox Game Pass is riding a bit of a high with all the new releases that joined the service this past week, it’s that time to talk about what is leaving the service. 7 games have popped up on the leaving Game Pass section of the Game Pass dashboard. These 7 games are set to leave the service on February 15th so if you plan on playing them the clock is ticking.
Forza Horizon 5 Coming To PlayStation 5
One of Xbox’s main pillars is making its way to rival PlayStation. In a post to the Forza website it is confirmed that Forza Horizon 5 will be launching this spring on PlayStation 5. While Xbox has been busy porting games from the Xbox console over to PlayStation this past year, many debated if that would include their core franchises such as Forza, Gears Of War and Halo. The wondering can now stop with today’s announcement.
People Can Fly Assisting With Gears Of War: E-Day Development

The band is back together with Marcus and crew Gears Of War: E-Day is the next game in the series and today the developer announced that it is working in support of Gears developer The Coalition to bring the game to life as a co-developer.
Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap Review
Despite the Orcs Must Die! franchise having been around over a decade I’ve never got around to playing one. They’ve always looked interesting with their blend of shooter and tower defense, just for one reason or another I never picked one up. When I saw Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap was releasing at the end of the month I thought it was a perfect time to give the series a try. It did not disappoint. Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap sticks with the formula that’s got the series to this point.
Xbox Game Studios Publishing Just Became Very Attractive To Outside Studios
Imagine you are an independent game studio in 2025 working on a new game and need a publisher. Could be AAA, could be a smaller indie. You are watching today’s Xbox developer direct and you see Ninja Gaiden 4 announced, published by Xbox Game Studios Publishing. You then see it’s on PlayStation. Are you not immediately picking up the phone to pitch Xbox? The decision by Xbox to start publishing their games on rival platforms has been polarizing to say the least.
Six More Games Departing Xbox Game Pass End Of January
The cycle of the Xbox Game Pass service continues. With games constantly being added also comes games leaving. With a stacked end of January for the service coming we’ve for now need to talk about those games leaving, 6 in total. Of course 6 games left the service earlier this month, meaning a total of 12 games will have left the service this month alone. While this round of cuts might not be big in terms of name recognition they are 6 solid indies. So what are the games leaving January 31st?
TeamKill Media Announces Dino Crisis Spiritual Successor “Code Violet”
The gaming community has been clamouring for years for a new Dino Crisis and it’s finally here…kind of. The team behind PlayStation exclusive Quantum Error has announced its next game, Code Violet, and has called it a spiritual successor to the beloved Dino Crisis franchise. We don’t have much to go on just yet beyond a name however. The announcement via X was simply to say that the codename project V that they have been working on is Code Violet.
Could All Three Platform Holders Have A Great 2025?
Around this time every year the gaming industry is full of optimism. We start to focus on what the year will bring and we get excited. It’s kind of like the pre-season in sports where every fanbase is excited for the season. Usually as the season progresses some teams exceed expectations and some don’t live up to them. The same can be said in gaming for the big 3 console makers. But could 2025 finally be the year all 3 have great years? It seems like it.
PlayStation Console Exclusive Project Tower Gets Release Date

PlayStation 5: The Story So Far
A couple days ago the Xbox Series consoles celebrated 4 years of existence and I did a look back on the consoles life so far. Today, the PlayStation 5 turns 4 years old so it’s only fair to do the same. That’s right, the PlayStation 5 is officially 4 years old after launching on November 12th 2020, two days after the Xbox Series consoles. The world was in the midst of the Covid pandemic and was in dire need of entertainment sources. Enter the next generation of consoles.
Xbox Series Generation: The Story So Far
It’s sometimes hard to believe how quick time flies, but 4 years ago to the day, Xbox released its current generation of consoles, the Xbox Series S and X. How have these consoles fared in that time since, and where are they headed as a console? There’s a whole lot to unpack here so let’s dig in. 2020 was a pretty dark time in the world, with COVID still dominating world and bringing many economies to a screeching halt.
Xbox Series X Now Outselling Series S In US, Astro Bot Debuts In 2nd In September Charts
We got a double dip of sales data this month from Circana, the company that tracks sales in the US, as they recently gave us August data and today they dropped the most recent September data which saw a lot of interesting results. Overall the industry saw a 6% decline year over year compared to last September, mostly due to the 44% drop in hardware sales. As is always the case around this time of year, the September chart is littered with new game releases.
“Xbox Was By Far Our Most Successful Platform” Aaero2 Developer Speaks On Why It Went To Xbox First
The rhythm genre has been in a bit of a funk lately. For awhile it was arguably the biggest genre in gaming before it got over saturated and fizzled out. So much so that it might now be one of the most overlooked genre in gaming. Enter Mad Fellows Games and their Aaero franchise. Founded in 2013 by two friends, Paul Norris & Dan Horbury, the 2 man studio based out of the UK set out to make their own unique take on the rhythm genre.
Is Ubisoft Underutilizing The Tom Clancy Universe?
When you think of Ubisoft games 3 franchises likely instantly pop into your head. Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and Tom Clancy. All 3 have been a staple of the Ubisoft brand for multiple generations. Yet this generation Ubisoft has seemingly forgotten about the Tom Clancy world, but why is that? Rainbow Six Extraction is the only Tom Clancy game we’ve gotten this generation If i was writing 10-15 years ago I’d likely be writing an article about how Ubisoft is doing too much with the Tom Clancy world.
