Amazon to buy Globalstar for $11.57bn, will bolster LEO satellite network
Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Lumen Technologies commercialized the AWS Interconnect – last mile service, providing a simplified approach for enterprises to configure fiber connectivity toward making the “plumbing” of cloud networking “boring.” The AWS Interconnect – last-mile service was initially unveiled at the hyperscaler’s re:Invent show late last year.
Fire at AWS data center in Bahrain after Iranian attack - report
Inline amplifiers (ILAs) are visually non-descript enclosures situated in non-descript locations along a fiber deployment route but are tasked with the very descript job of powering data traffic along thousands of miles of those routes, and are very much becoming an important cog in supporting explosive AI-fueled data traffic.

AT&T claims it was the victim of more than 10,000 “copper theft incidents” last year, hits that were cumulatively valued to the tune of $82 million, numbers that play into a broader industry push to replace legacy copper-based networks with fiber infrastructure.
Amazon confirms two UAE data centers hit by drone strikes, third in Bahrain damaged
EchoStar’s recent moves to monetize its spectrum holdings have left the former network operator with just a fraction of its formerly deep license portfolio and no customers on its once highly touted open radio access network infrastructure, but it maintains an appetite to acquire more wireless spectrum licenses.

The Self-giving Servant Father
I invite you now to come with me into the very center of the Christian faith. And I invite you to do so through a text of Scripture with which you are, no doubt, very familiar. Just before my family and I left the Philippines and returned to the United States, this text opened up for me in an explosive way. I had, by that time, studied and taught it for nearly 20 years. But it was not until November of 1988 that the text's fundamental affirmation finally opened up to me.
Transforming Likeness
Introduction Let’s start right in on one of my favourite verses in the whole Bible. 1 John 3:1 says, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” I prefer the old translations that instead of “see” use the word “behold.” It’s an exclamation and a command. The word has a sense of getting you to stop, in awe and wonder and try to ponder. Behold! “What kind of love is this?” Do you know that praise song?

Maine conjures a lot of romantic images, and if you love vast timberland and quiet small towns, Vacationland certainly lives up to its nickname. But while there are many ways to explore this holiday hot spot— from RVs to Harleys — one of the best methods is also the least known: Cycling 396 miles across Maine on U.S. Bicycle Route 1.
Adventure Cycling Association
Photo by Frederic Guyot Simply put, bikepacking is more fun when mind and body are on the same team. Many a long bike ride has begun with no training at all, and we’re not here to discourage anyone from trying if that’s your style. But there is freedom in feeling like your body is helping you cover the miles instead of complaining about them. If you’re new to cycling or haven’t ridden much lately, start by simply riding as much as possible: to the store, to work, to the park on Saturday afternoon.

When Good Snakes Become Bad Snakes
Introduction At the risk of ruining your political correctness, I wonder if you are prejudiced. Are you prejudiced against snakes? If a group of snakes moved in next door and inhabited your back yard, do you think it would lower your property values? Suppose your daughter brought a snake home for dinner. Would your family be comfortable with that? Chances are you are prejudiced against snakes.
Let God Guide Your Sex Life
Introduction (Read 1 Thess. 4:3-8) For many people—especially those of the younger generations—it’s passages like this that are a real hurdle for them in accepting Christianity as true. The Bible is just so “out of touch” with the reality of the world that we live in today. There are at least a couple of reasons for that.
For the Sake of Others
Introduction One of the hardest-to-get, most-difficult-to-live-into, toughest-to-hold-onto ideas of the truly Jesus-like life is this: A Christian lives for the sake of others. I did not make this idea up. It is not the product of some soft-minded, gushy-hearted spirituality. This idea is central to a biblical understanding of what it means to be truly a Christian—literally "a little Christ"—rather than a person merely playing at discipleship.
Get off the Fence
Introduction Of all the people admired in the world today, Jesus of Nazareth continually ranks at the top of the list. Even those who don't call themselves Christians regard Jesus as one of the wisest teachers and most loving leaders the world has ever known. He is still making the covers of magazines and being talked about in coffee shops with a popularity like no other person who has walked this earth. So why did his contemporaries killhim?
God and Caesar
The story behind the sermon (by Dan Meyer) The personal backdrop The sermon "God and Caesar" reflects my longstanding curiosity about the proper relationship between piety and politics. This interest, I suppose, is a function of extended exposure to the topic. I grew up in a political family, the son of a state senator and nephew of a U.S. senator. I hold a political science degree from Yale and led its student government.
Pointing Fingers
Introduction We live in an age of finger-pointing. Some of this finger-pointing is regrettable, I think. One expression of it is inspirational, I believe. And one dimension of it is now essential, I'm convinced. I'd like to reflect with you on all three of these senses of "finger-pointing," because each of them bears upon the ministry of Christians in a time when the role of religion in American life is again on the front burner.
Power, Politics, and the Example of Christ
Introduction In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus shares some important insights on power. Mary the mother of James and John came to him and asked, "When you come into your kingdom, let my boys sit at your right and your left." In other words, "Put them in charge of everyone else. Give them power." Jesus said, "You don't really know what you are asking, and it will not unfold that way." He then turned to calm the other ten disciples who heard the request and immediately felt indignant.
Making Sense of God and Government
Introduction Today I will be looking at Mark 12:13-17: And they sent to him some of the Pharisees and some of the Herodians, to trap him in his talk. And they came and said to him, 'Teacher, we know that you are true and do not care about anyone's opinion. For you are not swayed by appearances, but truly teach the way of God. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not? Should we pay them, or should we not?" But, knowing their hypocrisy, he said to them, "Why put me to the test?
A Distraught Dad, His Demonized Boy, and a Faith that Moves Mountains
Author’s Introduction: If Mark 9:30-50 defies interpretation, as commentator Eugene Boring claims, the verses that immediately precede are only slightly less difficult for the preacher to navigate. Jesus’ exorcism of a demonized boy at the foot of the mountain where he was moments earlier transfigured appears in all three Synoptic Gospels (Matt. 17:14-21; Mark 9:14-29; Luke 9:37-43). Only Matthew includes the line about a faith capable of moving mountains. Mark’s record is the longest.

But what should enterprises most impacted by these changes do next? Matt Watts, chief technology evangelist at NetApp, stressed that the first move is for those enterprise and IT teams to take a beat before making any significant decisions.
A Lesson Wise Moms and Other Influential People Can Teach the Next Generation
From the editor: Mother's Day is just around the corner (May 9), and should you decide to offer a message for the occasion, Steve Mathewson's look at Proverbs 31 might provide some helpful direction for your own preaching. If you're not planning on preaching a sermon about mothers, motherhood, etc, I would still suggest filing this one away for your records. Steve offers some great thoughts for preaching on parenting in general! Click here to listen to the audio.
The Incredibles
Introduction As we saw last week, every great family is founded first and foremost on the Covenant Principle—on a radical commitment to one another, inspired by the stunning example of God's own commitment to us. The first Christian family just could not get over the way God kept his side of the covenant.
Lean Up
Introduction One of the most talked about books in recent years is Sheryl Sandberg's bestseller, Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead. Sandberg is a Harvard Business School grad, a former assistant to the Secretary of the Treasury, and currently the Chief Operating Officer of Facebook.
Adventure Cycling Association
Despite their prevalence in society, bikes aren’t commonly featured in mass-consumed media. At least, not for stories set in the modern day, and not ridden by adults. So when a show like “Stranger Things” comes out and the opening episode has children riding their bikes home from a late-night game of Dungeons & Dragons, the fog as thick as the whimsy still in their hearts, I — like most bike nerds out there — latched on. I was that kid, and at 41 years old, I still am.
Impact of controlled hypothermic preservation on outcomes following heart transplantation
Severe primary graft dysfunction (PGD) is a major cause of early mortality after heart transplant, but the impact of donor organ preservation conditions on severity of PGD and survival has not been well characterized. Data from US adult heart-transplant recipients in the Global Utilization and Registry Database for Improved Heart Preservation-Heart Registry (NCT04141605) were analyzed to quantify PGD severity, mortality, and associated risk factors.
A Body You Have Prepared
Introduction At Christmas we remember that Jesus came among us. The Second Person of the Trinity lowered himself, condescended, and became a man. That’s what our passage says: “A body you have prepared for me.” He was born of a virgin, laid to rest in a manger, announced by angels, and honored by shepherds. Charles Wesley put it this way: Veiled in flesh, the godhead see; Hail to the incarnate deity! Pleased as man, with men to dwell— Jesus, our Immanuel.
Punctuating Our Lives with Thanksgiving
Introduction We recently looked together through the lens of the story of Job at the great question marks that fill our lives: Why do bad things happen to good people? Why do the righteous suffer? Why do we park on driveways and drive on parkways? Life is full of these mysteries, of course. It's only natural that some of our time is spent searching for answers. But at the end of the day, I don't want my life to be about question marks.
The 'New' Old Way to Plan Your Sermons
PreachingToday.com: Dan, tell us a little bit about how you've normally planned your sermon series for the year—let's say from September - August.
Heart Ache
More than 3,000 years ago, near the city of Shechem, in the land we know today as Israel, an unknown seeker began digging a hole in the crusty soil where he and his family scratched out a living. The back-breaking work became harder still as his pick hit the strata of limestone that sits just below the topsoil in this unforgiving land. The sun was hot. The dry, dusty air burned in his throat and lungs.
God’s Presence, God’s Promises
Introduction There’s no title it just says, Of David. We don’t know for sure, unlike some of the psalms, the situation at the time but we do know David was under attack from enemies, being pursued and hounded by them. He went through various times that could fit. It seems like he couldn’t go to the house of the Lord, the temple at that time, maybe he was on the run. We know he was often being lied about, and at times even his family were against him, his brothers, even his dad discounted him.
A Word to Husbands
Introduction I am surprised Peter includes this word to husbands. Not that husbands don’t need a word like this. God knows we do! Peter knew we did as well, because Peter himself was married (1 Cor. 9:5), and therefore knew as well as anyone that husbands really need this kind of word. I am surprised Peter includes this word to husbands because it does not fit the pattern of this passage; it’s not what we would expect from the flow of the passage.
A Father's Words
Introduction In June 1992, Jim Davidson and Mike Price climbed Mt. Rainier. On the way down, the two climbers fell 80 feet through a snow bridge into a glacial crevasse: a pitch-black, ice-walled crack in the massive glacier that cover Mt. Rainier. Mike Price died. In his book The Ledge, Jim Davidson tells the story of his miraculous survival and courageous climb out of the crevasse.
The Greatest of These
The story behind the sermon (from Mark Buchanan) This was the second-to-last sermon of one of the longest series we've ever done at our church—20 weeks! The series was titled "You Learned Christ: The ABCs of Discipleship." It was intended as a primer in Christian discipleship—something our pastors and elders felt was needed in the life of our church due to an influx of new believers over the last few years.

Three Challenges to the Contemporary Church
Introduction Let's pray before I begin so that we may look to him for light. I'd like to use a prayer that John Calvin wrote in the 16th century that expresses what is in my heart and I hope what is in yours as well. The church has a double calling: on the one hand to live in the world, and on the other not to conform to the world. The first is a call to worldliness, as opposed to otherworldliness—getting involved in the life of the world around us. The second calling is the call to holiness.
Don’t Fall Away!
Introduction A survey from Barna shows a large percentage of churchgoers have “stopped engaging.”[1] One leader here in Manchester told me some in his church were saying “I’m all Zoomed out – I’m fed up – I can’t be bothered.” He’s talking about Christians. He even admitted, “I’m starting to feel the same way.” Immediately I thought, How do we keep people engaged online? What do we do to get people coming back to church? Then I had another thought.
Great Preachers Remembered
Introduction I want to start on this history of preaching from the present and going back, because I am a part of the history of recent times. I’ve been around that long. When I went to New York in 1948, it was the center of the greatest concentration of preaching that this country and perhaps the world has ever known in one city at one time. Sandy Ray One of the reigning voices of that city was my late and dear friend, Sandy Ray.
It's About the People
Introduction Recently our church softball thoroughly trounced our opponents. The game ended with what's called the mercy rule: when one team is ahead by 15 runs or more, the officials stop the game before it gets downright humiliating. As we were approaching the point of the mercy rule, we weren't acting very merciful. We were still hitting hard, running hard, and enjoying every minute of it. At the end of the game, one of our teammates scolded us: "Guys, I'm embarrassed by our behavior.

I Attended the World University Games, and This Is the Gear That Helped Me Survive Winter Sports Spectating
Cheering on your favorite athletes during the winter months can be daunting to prepare for. While athletes at the World University Games or the FIS World Cup circuit are constantly moving (read: staying warm), spectators generally stand in one spot, so they need to be ready for anything. Thankfully, decades of experience have prepared me for standing outside in the cold for hours at a time. Once you get the hang of it, it’s easy as 1-2-3.
The Great Adventure
Introduction In his wonderful book, The Island of Lost Maps, author Miles Harvey shares a sentiment with which I think many of us can probably resonate. Harvey said that he loved looking at maps. He said he was acting like a character in a Joseph Conrad novel who said, "When I grow up I will go there." So Harvey would look for hours at exciting places in South America, Africa, or Australia and lose himself in the glories of possible adventures around the world.
Loud Cries and Tears
Introduction It’s dangerous to preach on suffering because many of us are in very different places right now. Some of us are in agony, some of us are coming out of a time of suffering and feeling grateful, others are just joyful and aren’t really suffering much. And what will be a word in season for one person is going to be a word out of season for someone else.
Praying Through Our Struggles
Introduction What is the one thing we all have in common? We all struggle, we all know what it’s like to go through hardships. We may struggle with finances, we struggle with health, with relationships. We struggle in our hearts, we struggle with addictions, codependency, you name it. What we don’t all have in common, however, is the way that struggles affect us and how we respond to them.
You Have the Words of Eternal Life
Introduction One of the great joys of my life to officiate weddings. Sure, there is a lot of pressure to get things right, but one aspect I love so much is standing beside a groom when the bride comes down the aisle. I have seen guys come undone in that moment, trying to pull themselves together for the rest of the ceremony. When this couple makes vows to one another I never sense any doubt or hesitancy when they say these things. Why?
A Song of Contentment
Introduction One of my favorite films of all time is Chariots of Fire. Chariots of Fire is based on the true story of two runners named Harold Abrahams and Eric Liddell. On the surface, these two runners had a lot in common. They were both from Great Britain, they were both exceptional runners, they were both chosen to represent the British Isles in the 1924 Paris Olympic games, and they had both had their hearts set on winning a gold medal. But inside, their interior life was a stark contrast.
