Sonoma Sister Cities committee aims to raise $10K for Ukrainian city

A Sonoma Sister Cities Association committee has launched an effort to help one of its sister cities, Kaniv, Ukraine, install solar panels at its fire department so that it can provide emergency services during the frigid winter months. The effort began after Kaeti Bailie, chair of the association’s Kaniv Committee, received an email in June from Kaniv resident Anatoliy Leontyev, president of the Kaniv Friendship Association.

La Luz Center in Sonoma receives grant from Landmark Vineyards

La Luz Center in Sonoma is among the five Sonoma County nonprofit organizations and schools that received 2026 Community Grants in June collectively totaling $75,000 from Landmark Vineyards in Kenwood. The grant will help La Luz Center to expand its early childhood education and parent engagement efforts to support school readiness for underserved families. This year’s grants range from $5,000 to $25,000.

Sonoma Valley Hospital Ranked Among Most Socially Responsible in U.S.

Sonoma Valley Hospital has been rated one of the most socially responsible hospitals in the nation by the 2026-27 Lown Hospital Index. The hospital is one of 160 out of 3,600 U.S. hospitals that was awarded a spot on the index’s Honor Roll in Social Responsibility by earning top grades in Equity, Value and Outcomes measures. “Honor Roll status is earned by hospitals meeting the highest standards across the breadth of our metrics,” said Dr. Vikas Saini, president of Lown Institute.
