What Bosses Can Do to Reduce Anxiety Among Returning Workers
As organizations make plans to bring their employees back to the office, they would do well to remember this: Many of those workers are anxious. We conducted a survey with 300 working adults who used to work in the office, worked from home during the pandemic, and have been now asked to return to the office starting in the fall. When asked to indicate whether they are feeling anxious about the return, 82% indicated they are. That’s an extraordinarily high number.
During Covid-19, Why Are Workers So Disengaged? Blame the Boss
Call it a pandemic of worker malaise: Thanks to Covid-19, an increasing number of people feel disengaged from their jobs. Working from home, interacting via video, and worrying about our health and the economy are all taking a toll. In a May-June 2020 survey of over 8,000 people across all 50 states and all types of jobs, we found that work engagement had fallen 16% since the start of the pandemic. We replicated those findings in a subsequent survey of over 500 people in February.
Starting a new job is stressful. But what if there was a better way to do it?
iStock By using the first day as a time for people to tap into their best selves — and not just fill out paperwork — companies could ease their stress and bring out their full potential, says business school professor Daniel Cable. “There is a new war for talent happening in the workplace today,” says London Business School professor Daniel Cable.
Why you're bored at work, and what to do about it
At one point or other, we’ve all felt dulled by what we do at work—bored and creatively bankrupt. We’ve sometimes lost our zest for our jobs and accepted working as a sort of long commute to the weekend. An overwhelming majority of the workforce is not “involved in, enthusiastic about, and committed to their work.” And 17% of that group are “actively” disengaged—they are repelled by what they do all day. Employees don’t usually succumb to these negative responses for a lack of trying.

Professor Dan Cable: Leadership Has Become Synonymous With Ego Trips And Power Trips
Employee engagement – or rather the lack of it – is one of the biggest challenges facing leaders today. According to a 2017 survey by Gallup, for example, two-thirds of American employees are disengaged at work, with the most dissatisfied individuals actively resenting their jobs, griping at co-workers and dragging down office morale.

Preparing the Self for Team Entry: How Relational Affirmation Improves Team Performance
By 2013, the U.S. wireless industry was in the midst of a costly transition. As consumers began to embrace more sophisticated mobile devices, the industry's four main players spent heavily to improve their infrastructures for providing reliable high-speed data services. T-Mobile, the smallest of the four major carriers, lacked the scale of its competitors and risked falling further behind in the contest for market share.
