Like, say, a supernova explosion caused by a star reaching the end of its life, an event so massive that, even 1,700 years after it happened, it can still shoot things into the surrounding Universe at two million miles per hour (3.22 million kph). We've known of supernovas for a long time now, so there are few things that keep us surprised about them.
