Existing tool-use benchmarks report a single success rate for complex, multistep tasks. Inspired by ideas from cognitive science, we distinguish tool use from tool discovery and decompose the latter into curiosity (the model's ability to discover the parts needed to build the tool), recognition (the model's ability to discover the process of creating the tool), and efficiency (the model's use of the tool after creation).

Measuring stereotype and deviation biases in large language models
Abstract Large language models (LLMs) are widely applied across diverse domains, raising concerns about their limitations and potential risks. In this study, we investigate two types of bias that LLMs may display: stereotype bias and deviation bias. Stereotype bias refers to when LLMs consistently associate specific traits with a particular demographic group.

Nanoengineering of non-aqueous liquid electrolyte solutions for future lithium metal batteries - Nature Nanotechnology
|
Abstract Research and development of non-aqueous electrolyte solutions are essential for practical advancement towards the production of high-energy lithium metal batteries (LMBs). An ideal LMB electrolyte solution should enable highly efficient, uniform and prolonged lithium metal plating and stripping, preserve the electrodes’ electro(chemo)mechanical properties and ensure compatibility with all cell components.

Setting up LLC on H1B visa for rental properties
Hello BP, I've been following BP for over a month now and I have gained decent knowledge. I thank each and every member of this community for their posts and information. I'm on H1B visa and wondering if anyone from this forum has opened an LLC for managing their rental properties. I know this is a question to a immigration attorney but I would like to know if there is anyone who has done it or doing it so that I can get some guidance going forward.

"The Genomic Alterations in Glioblastoma Influence the Levels of CSF Me" by Daniel H Wang, Yoko Fujita et al.
Abstract Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis is underutilized in patients with glioblastoma (GBM), partly due to a lack of studies demonstrating the clinical utility of CSF biomarkers. While some studies show the utility of CSF cell-free DNA analysis, studies analyzing CSF metabolites in patients with glioblastoma are limited. Diffuse gliomas have altered cellular metabolism.
Controlling Nanonet Morphology via Residue‐Specific Modulation of β‐Hairpin Peptide for Enhanced Bacterial Trapping
1 Introduction Bacterial trapping offers a promising strategy to combat antibiotic resistance by targeting mechanisms that help bacteria evade antibiotics, such as internalization in host cells or escaping areas with high local drug concentrations.[1-6] Human-defensin 6 (HD6) peptide forms an effective bacteria-trapping nanonet in the human small intestine,[7, 8] but recreating such nanonet using short synthetic peptides is challenging due to the limited understanding of the design principles.

Improving AI-based Microbial Keratitis Screening Tools Constrained by Limited Data Using Synthetic Generation of Slit Lamp Photos
Introduction Artificial Intelligence (AI) has shown to be a promising tool for screening eye conditions like diabetic retinopathy in non-ophthalmology settings.1,2 AI models require large amounts of data to train. However, many conditions, like microbial keratitis (MK) – despite being a top five cause of blindness worldwide – have limited availability of public data for training.3,4 Early diagnosis of MK is important because early treatment can limit the extent of corneal damage from infection.

Predictive Modeling of NBA Player Salaries Using Machine Learning
Points, FG (field goals), and FGA (field goals attempted) exhibit the strongest correlations with salary, which is logical because players who score more tend to command higher salaries. However, there is significant intercorrelation among several variables. For example, players who score more points also tend to make more field goals.
