Structure fire guts Main Street home in Manchester

MANCHESTER — A mid-afternoon structure fire at 5200 Main Street drew a heavy mutual-aid response from departments across the region Thursday, sending flames through the roof of a residential building but causing no reported injuries, according to fire officials on scene. The blaze was dispatched at 1:36 p.m. as a first-alarm structure fire, said William “Bill” Beideman of the Manchester Fire Department, who was acting as water supply officer at the incident.

Structure fire in Manchester draws extensive response

MANCHESTER — A structure fire on Thursday afternoon in Manchester prompted a response from a number of fire departments, including Dorset, East Dorset, Arlington, Winhall, Peru, Pawlet, Rupert, West Rupert, and Granville. The fire occurred at 5200 Main Street – a residential establishment located between McManus Law Office, PLLC and Advanced Eyecare, PC. The fire, initially dispatched at approximately 1:30 p.m., required a second alarm due to the need for more personnel.
