I have reported from Greece and many other countries, as far afield as Bangladesh and Lebanon. Four Americans were among the six people killed in Athens, Greece after an explosion collapsed a two-story building, the U.S. ambassador to Greece said. The blast took place Friday morning in Plaka, a popular tourist neighborhood near the ancient Acropolis, and sent debris throughout the block. The exact cause of the explosion is under investigation. On Saturday, a spokesperson for the Hellenic Fire Department told ABC News that the six missing persons' bodies were recovered.

The explosion struck around 7:35 a.m. on Lysikratous Street, near Vassilissis Amalias Avenue and opposite the Temple of Olympian Zeus. The two-storey building largely collapsed. Neighbouring properties and parked cars were also damaged. Firefighters and municipal crews work behind police tape on Lysikratous Street. Mayor’s account Doukas visited the site repeatedly and spoke both in the afternoon and again after 8pm.

VICE's journalist and documentary filmmaker Daphne Tolis traveled to the Greek island of Samos to document the last days of refugees' stay at the sprawling refugee camp on Samos and the first hours of operation of a new, closed facility funded by the European Union's Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund. The documentary follows refugees from Palestine, Afghanistan and African countries as they move from an open makeshift camp to a new remote facility.
