Darcy McBrinn’s Biography

Originally from Ireland, I began writing as a hobby whilst studying English Literature at the University of York. Afterwards I went on to do an MA in the subject at Durham University, where this pursuit became my passion.

Having written for a range of outlets and organisations including Nouse, Palatinate, Wayzgoose, Certified Forgotten, and the Leeds Palestinian Film Festival, I mainly focus on thematic analysis of cultural and artistic topics.

What was your first job as a journalist?

I wrote for the American online horror publication Certified Forgotten, who specialise in obscure horror films from the early digital age.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

I have, it's a lot less fulfilling than you'd think.

How is social media changing news?

The emphasis on provocative and short form content is stripping news of detail, nuance, and informed perspectives.
