Minimal Residual Disease May Anticipate Outcomes in Myeloma Following Stem Cell Transplant
Patients with myeloma and a negative MRD may be at a reduced risk of mortality and other progression-free survival events. Researchers may be able to anticipate outcomes in patients with myeloma based on their minimal residual disease (MRD) status. Results from the Myeloma XI trial were presented at the 18th International Myeloma Workshop. The trial assessed patients with myeloma who underwent an autologous stem cell transplant and are currently on maintenance therapy with lenalidomide (Revlimid).
MRD Has Potential to Predict Outcomes for Patients With Myeloma Post-Stem Cell Transplantation

Restrictive Medicaid Eligibility May Negatively Impact Cancer Survival
States without Medicaid expansion tended to have poorer cancer outcomes than states with higher income limits on eligibility, according to recent research. In states with more restrictive Medicaid eligibility, patients with cancer tended to have poorer long-term outcomes than those with higher income limits to qualify. Findings from this study were presented in a media webcast before the 2021 ASCO Annual Meeting.
Worse Survival Noted for Patients With Cancer Treated in States With Lower Medicaid Eligibility Limits
Based on outcomes from a study involving patients with cancer, Medicaid may benefit from expansion in certain areas where eligibility limits hinder adequate coverage.
