(KQTV) -- The St. Joseph Mustangs love celebrating America during the July 4 weekend like most, and were able to mark the occasion by recognizing Friday's umpire crew in a special way. "This year, it really worked out, special for us. It's our umpire crew, and they're all veterans. And so they're actually going to be our local heroes that we're going to honor beforehand," St. Joseph Mustangs owner and GM Ky Turner shared.

St. Joseph man accused of 4th of July DWI according to MSHP

BUCHANAN COUNTY, Mo. (KQTV) -- A St. Joseph man faces multiple charges after a single-vehicle accident late Saturday night on Interstate 29. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that 39-year-old Jamithunn A. McNeely was driving a 2002 Ford Ranger southbound near mile marker 48.8 within the St. Joseph city limits just after 11:00 p.m. on July 4. The pickup truck traveled off the west side of the roadway and struck the ground, coming to a rest on its wheels facing southwest.

MISSOURI (KQTV) -- Players from the Show Me State's MLB franchises will head to the MLB All-Star Game on July 14 in Philadelphia. From the Kansas City Royals, shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. will start for the American League. This will be Witt's third straight MLB ASG appearance. Also joining him from the Royals will be pitcher Michael Wacha, who will be making his second Midsummer Classic appearance. The St. Louis Cardinals will be represented in the big game by outfielder Jordan Walker.
