10 Things You Should Know About Suffering
1. Suffering is a result of the fall. God warned Adam that eating the forbidden fruit would result in death (Genesis 2:16-17). Romans 5:12 confirms that this happened after Adam’s fall: “Just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned.” Death (and the accompanying pain and suffering) came as a result of that first sin and our continued sin. Pain, suffering, and death—in and of themselves—are not good. 2.
The Beauty of Silver Hair: Why Churches Need Older Women
Sometime in late 2009, on a chilly winter morning in Dubai (still 90 degrees!), Mack and his wife, Leeann, came up to me in the back of our church’s worship center. They communicated their intention to join our church-planting team working to establish a new church on the north side of town. They were the first to do so. As the months unfolded, Mack, as a founding elder, certainly played a huge role in the new plant. His evangelistic zeal and joyful leadership proved contagious.
Being ‘Known’ by God Changes Everything
God took note of you. God chose you. You did nothing to earn His favor, but He has set His affections on you. God has reached down and grabbed His enemies and made them His friends. John Piper writes, “Deeper than knowing God is being known by God. What defines us as Christians is not most profoundly that we have come to know Him but that He took note of us and made us His own.” Can you handle this truth? Believer in Christ Jesus, God has known and loved you before the foundation of the world.

4 Traps to Avoid When You Suffer
As I thought about my own experience, I wanted to organize my thoughts and experience for others in these two categories of traps that every sufferer faces and the comfort that is offered to every sufferer in the gospel. The traps are many, but let’s just take the trap of doubt. Doubt gives the devil an opportunity. There are two kinds of doubt. The first is the doubt of wonderment.
What Should I Do When I'm Bearing Unbearable Suffering?
What we should do is what Martyn Lloyd Jones encourages us to do: preach truth to ourselves rather than listening to the lies in our own heads. That night, I had to preach to my own soul to remind myself that God is with me. I turned to the truth in God’s Word, and flipped to my favorite psalm: Psalm 46. I’ve had a few seasons of intense suffering.
The Best Way to Share Your Faith Is to Show, Not Tell - RELEVANT Magazine
This is not a shocking revelation. Our Christian faith has had a qualitative, positive influence on us, and we want others to experience it, too. And with so much wrong out there, who can blame us? It’s certainly understandable why Christians would want to encourage change in individual lives, schools, government, politics, culture, entertainment and eternity. Let’s look at the word influence. The dictionary defines it as: That sounds like us, right?
Philadelphia Eagles Player Has Baptized 5 of His Teammates - RELEVANT Magazine
The Philadelphia Eagles NFL team has managed to do something not many other professional teams are doing: Many players are have forged a bond through their spirituality. Religious players are pretty common in the league, but for many of these players, they live out their lives and faiths together—going as far as being baptized by a teammate in the team’s recovery pool at the practice facility.
