FIFA bans water bottles at World Cup venues, concern grows among health officials

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WDAF) — Fans will no longer be able to take refillable water bottles to matches at World Cup venues. FIFA made the late update to its Stadium Code of Conduct policy on Tuesday. Fans at sporting events are used to being able to take in either a factory-sealed water bottle or an empty one that can be refilled. FIFA says it made the change “for the avoidance of doubt” in a section of the policy that bans glass bottles, jars and other hard objects.
