Dragon Age creator and former narrative lead David Gaider doesn't believe the beloved role-playing game (RPG) series has a future at EA, but would be interested in working on a new game if given the chance.
Dragon Age Ex-Lead Writer Says Series Return 'Unlikely,' Though Would Make Dragon Age 5 'Dark and Dangerous' Again
Former Dragon Age lead writer David Gaider doesn't think BioWare's fantasy series will return while owned by publisher EA — though knows what he'd do if a fifth game was ever made. Dragon Age: The Veilguard launched to mixed reviews in late 2024 following a long and rocky development.
Best Fantasy Games With Extensive Lore
Fantasy games with deep lore create believable worlds that immerse players in complex backstories and detailed settings. Titles like Baldur's Gate 3 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim set high standards with engaging plots, rich history, and memorable characters. Unique universes in games like Elden Ring draw inspiration from various sources, offering players intricate lore and exciting narratives. Deep lore is as important to fantasy games as well-written characters and an engaging story.

OK, So I Was Wrong — Summerfall Studios
“Absolutely not.” That’s what I initially told Liam and Meredith, our Director of Marketing, when they proposed the idea of a live event at the beginning of this year, showcasing some of our cast singing songs from the game. Do you want to write video games?
Do you want to write video games? Do you? Do you really? Be honest with me. I mean, I don’t want to shoot down your dream. There are lots of people who’ve done the research, who know exactly what they’re getting into when they say this and who spend years earnestly pursuing their goal. There are also lots of people who like the notion of getting into game development but figure they’ll never have any real skills like programming or art so this is their best bet.

Folks in QA get that a lot, and let me tell you: they love it.
