A regional Queensland council has implored the Albanese government to develop a national fuel tracker to protect rural economies, while criticising the multimillion-dollar federal fuel-saving campaign. Next Saturday will mark two months since the war between Iran, Israel and the United States began.

Brandon Long and David Iliffe Australia's largest private cattle feedlot company is looking for a new owner, and the price tag is expected to be in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Mort & Co, which fattens hundreds of thousands of cattle on grain before being slaughtered for beef, has put the majority of its assets on the market. That includes Grassdale, the largest feedlot in the country with 78,000 head, located near Dalby in Queensland's Darling Downs region.

Rural and regional police say their hands are somewhat tied when alleged offenders jump the Queensland-NSW border. Goondiwindi officer-in-charge, Senior Sergeant Richard McIntosh, said some offenders were well-known to Queensland Police, but they took advantage of the fact that police did not have any authority south of the McIntyre River. He said there was a history of people fleeing to Queensland to the nearby NSW border town Boggabilla.
