Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yep. In the old days, I used to crank out broadcast copy on an IBM Selectric. I used an old Remington manual in high school.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Chuck Tatum

What does it mean to be a journalist?

It means doing your best to inform the public for very little money.

What's your favorite social network?

Facebook

Why did you become a journalist?

It seemed glamorous and I had no real work skills.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

I wrote the UPI story of Tony Spilotro being placed in Nevada Black Book. Both Las Vegas Sun and Reno Gazette Journal gave me Page 1 banners.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Become a cab driver.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Never. I'm retired.
