Bow Fiddle Rock - Photo Review
By David Scott. Bow Fiddle Rock By David Scott Canon EOS 5DS; EF 24-70mm @ 37mm; f/11; ISO 50 I took this photo on a recent trip back home to Scotland. The iconic rock formation, composed of quartzite, is located near the coastal town of Portnockie, northeast Scotland. The weather that day was nice, windy, blue sky and fluffy clouds. I decided to set up on my 10 stop Nisi ND filter to capture the cloud movement and smooth out the waves.

Modeling Potential Environmental Impacts of Science Activity in Antarctica
1 Introduction Antarctica is often considered a vast, desolate continent devoid of human activity (Tin et al. 2016). However, there are small, scientifically significant areas where substantial, regular human activity occurs. Globally unique ice-free areas in Antarctica, such as the McMurdo Dry Valleys, are of particular scientific interest and a significant amount of activity occurs in this specially managed area.

From screen to metal: what photographers should know before printing
A photograph can look perfect on a screen but feel different once printed. [Article courtesy of Neon Champ] A photograph can look perfect on a screen but feel different once printed. Screens use light, while prints rely on surface, ink, and finish. This shift matters, especially when your work is meant for display. For photographers, printing is not just the final step—it is part of the creative process.

Drive mode tips for sports shooting
Most cameras these days have selectable drive modes with single-shot plus fast and slow (or ‘high’ or ‘low’ speed) continuous settings. Some cameras include bracketing; others add multi-shot or HDR (high dynamic range). More recent models may take in pre-capture recording and a few combine the video settings with the drive menu. What is the chance of a message in a bottle being found?
Credit: Pixabay/CC0 Public Domain Recently, a cheerful 100-year-old message in a bottle was found on the south-west coast of Australia. In it, a World War One soldier proclaimed to be "as happy as Larry." If you're a betting person, you probably wouldn't expect great odds of this happening. A bottle cast into the ocean could end up absolutely anywhere. If it floats to a remote location, there is little chance of somebody stumbling upon it.

Getting exposure right for action shots
How to ensure correct exposure and focus when your subject is moving quickly against a changing background, especially in scenes with wide brightness ranges. There’s no point in having the lens focused on the subject if exposure settings mean it will be too dark or too pale for details to be recorded. Most modern cameras link AF and exposure modes by default so, if your subject is in focus, it should also be correctly exposed.

Nevertheless, both genres go together as they present some similar challenges to photographers.
