Synthesis and Application of Bioactive N‐Functionalized Aziridines
1 Introduction Aziridines are the smallest saturated nitrogen-containing heterocycles and engage in strain-accelerated ring-opening chemistry with nucleophiles (Figure 1a).[1] Aziridines are not often encountered in natural products: While robust enzymatic machinery is available to construct epoxides, which are the oxygen analogues of aziridines, from olefinic precursors, analogous aziridination chemistry has not naturally evolved.[2] Despite the relative dearth of naturally occurring...
Aziridine Group Transfer via Transient N-Aziridinyl Radicals
Aziridines are important synthetic building blocks and represent electrophilic pharmacophores in a variety of organic small molecule therapeutics and natural products (Figure 1a). (1) Aziridines are typically constructed via [2 + 1] cycloadditions between either olefins with nitrene equivalents or imines with carbene equivalents, or via intramolecular nucleophilic substitution chemistry within prefunctionalized substrates (Figure 1b).
β‐Phenethylamine Synthesis: N‐Pyridinium Aziridines as Latent Dual Electrophiles
β-phenethylamines are oft-encountered structural motifs in biologically active compounds,1 including dopamine receptor agonists,2 various enzyme inhibitors,3 and are particularly prevalent in small-molecule therapeutics for central nervous system disorders,2b, 4 opioid receptor drugs,5 and analgesics.6 Fragment-based drug discovery campaigns,3a which rely on elucidation of quantitative structure–activity relationships, demand modular synthetic methods to diversify all the constituent...

Temporal Effects of Galactose and Manganese Supplementation on Monoclonal Antibody N-Linked Glycosylation in Fed-Batch and Perfusion Bioreactor Operation
Abstract Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) represent a majority of biotherapeutics on the market today. These glycoproteins undergo post-translational modifications, such as N-linked glycosylation, that influence the structural & functional characteristics of the antibody. Glycosylation is a heterogenous post-translational modification that may influence therapeutic glycoprotein stability and clinical efficacy, which is why it is often considered a critical quality attribute (CQA) of the mAb product.
Most Vulnerable More Likely to Depend on Emergency Rooms for Preventable Care
Victoria Udalova, David Powers, Sara Robinson and Isabelle Notter People in vulnerable populations — as defined by socioeconomic characteristics — made more preventable visits to emergency rooms than others from 2013 to 2017, according to a U.S. Census Bureau working paper. The study analyzed census data linked with emergency visit records in the state of Utah.
In crystallo organometallic chemistry
In crystallo organometallic chemistry X-ray crystallography is an invaluable tool in design and development of organometallic catalysis, but application typically requires species to display sufficiently high solution concentrations and lifetimes for single crystalline samples to be obtained.

Multielectron C-H Photoactivation with an Sb(V) Oxo Corrole
Multielectron C–H Photoactivation with an Sb(V) Oxo Corrole Pnictogen complexes are ideal for mediating multi-electron chemical reactions in two-electron steps. We report a Sb(V) bis-μ-oxo corrole that photochemically oxidises the C–H bonds of organic substrates. In the case of toluene, the substrate is oxidized to benzaldehyde, a rare example of a four-electron photoreaction. You have access to this article Please wait while we load your content... Templating Metastable Pd2 Carboxylate Aggregates
Evaluation of the potential for metal–metal (M–M) cooperation to enable catalysis requires access to specific polynuclear aggregates that display appropriate geometry and size. In many cases, exerting synthetic control over the aggregation of simple metal salts is a challenge. For example, Pd(II) acetate self assembles as a trimer (i.e. Pd3(OAc)6) both in the solid state and in solution and does not feature close Pd–Pd interactions.

Halogen Photoelimination from SbV Dihalide Corroles
Main-group p-block metals are ideally suited for mediating two-electron reactions because they cycle between Mn and Mn+2 redox states, as the one-electron state is thermodynamically unstable. Here, we report the synthesis and structure of an SbIII corrole and its SbVX (X = Cl, Br) congeners. SbIII sits above the corrole ring, whereas SbV resides in the corrole centroid. Electrochemistry suggests interconversion between the SbIII and SbVX species.
Probing Substrate Diffusion in Interstitial MOF Chemistry with Kinetic Isotope Effects
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have garnered substantial interest as platforms for site-isolated catalysis. Efficient diffusion of small molecule substrates to interstitial lattice-confined catalyst sites is critical to leveraging unique opportunities of these materials as catalysts. Understanding the rate of substrate diffusion in MOFs is challenging and few in situ chemical tools are available to evaluate substrate diffusion during interstitial MOF chemistry.
Direct Characterization of a Reactive Lattice-Confined Ru2 Nitride by Photocrystallography
Reactive metal–ligand (M–L) multiply bonded complexes are ubiquitous intermediates in redox catalysis and have thus been long-standing targets of synthetic chemistry. The intrinsic reactivity of mid-to-late M–L multiply bonded complexes renders these structures challenging to isolate and structurally characterize.
