For the 2026 season, nine of 13 events ended up on different days of the meet than before; now, the individual race combinations are almost entirely back to the original setup but with the days switched around.

Mike Stamm died June 24 in Costa Rica following a brief hospitalization. He was 73 years old. Stamm, who swam at Indiana University, held the world record in the 200 backstroke in 1970 before winning three Olympic medals two years later in Munich.

What if the Stroke 50s Were in Paris? Another Gold for Sarah Sjostrom? Last year, the International Olympic Committee approved the addition of the 50-meter stroke events to the Olympic program for the 2028 Games in Los Angeles. For the first time, there will be 43 sets of medals awarded in the pool, and sprint-centric swimmers will have additional chances to shine on the Olympic level. These races were previously added to the World Championships slate in 2001.
