Elevate Hot Springs looking for new home for youth programming

Elevate Hot Springs said it's looking for a new location close to its current one, but options are limited. Formerly High Impact Movement, the nonprofit has been the city's contractor for after school and summer youth programming since 2021. Its 18-month lease on the Champion Community Center, located at 109 W Belding St., expires in September of next year, according to a copy Elevate Hot Springs board member Brent Atkins provided.

Boarded up Park Avenue motel receives revitalization grant

The Hot Springs Board of Directors approved an agreement Tuesday night that would provide $750,000 in federal funds to turn an old Park Avenue motel into affordable housing for artists. The city recommended Bellaire Apartments, 637 Park Ave., for the $750,000 National Park Service Paul Bruhn Historic Revitalization Grant. The boarded up and vacant building was one of seven applicants for funding from the program, which the city joined to help expand low- to moderate-income housing.

Hot Springs rejects Garland County Library’s $2.35 million offer for Majestic Hotel site

HOT SPRINGS -- The Hot Springs Board of Directors turned down the Garland County Library's $2.35 million offer for the Majestic Hotel site Tuesday night. The library proposed building a main branch on part of the 5-acre site at 100 Park Ave. The $2.35 million was based on what the city said it invested in the property from its solid waste fund.
