Interview

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes, of course.

How is social media changing news?

Ability to quickly update news stories and, sadly, ability to disguise fake news stories as real ones.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Briefly, it means you're able to satisfy your curiosity on a daily basis.

What's your favorite social network?

Twitter and Facebook.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Read, absorb and take nothing for granted.

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

Yikes, I've gotten so many. I'll just leave at pitches that have absolutely zero to do with small base of knowledge.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

On my bike riding around town -- or in my basement fixing my bike.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

Washington Post
