David P. Ball is a multimedia reporter and photojournalist based in Vancouver, Canada.

Winner of Canadian Association of Journalists and Jack Webster Foundation awards, his work has been published in the National Post, Toronto Star, The Tyee, VICE, Toronto Sun, 24 Hours Vancouver, Calgary Sun, Sun News Network and several nonfiction anthologies.

What was your first job as a journalist?

A high school coop at Nelson Express in B.C.'s Kootenays, writing on arts & youth. First paid gig was Gulf Islands Driftwood in 2001

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes, I own an electric typewriter but never used it for reporting, just dabbling in short story.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Serving the public interest, holding power to account, exposing the truth
