Veterans warn Invictus Australia budget cut could be life-threatening

The federal government has cut funding for Invictus Australia in the budget, prompting warnings that veterans could harm themselves without the support of the organisation. "It can be life-threatening if I'm going to be brutally honest," Invictus Games athlete Vanessa Broughill told ABC Sport. The genetic test the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is relying on to determine who can compete as a woman is inconclusive and should not be used in that manner, according to the scientist who discovered the key gene. Andrew Sinclair, the deputy director of the Murdoch Children's Research Institute in Melbourne, said testing for the SRY gene was not a reliable test for determining biological sex.
