Piconewton-sensitive cell stethoscope using an optical microcantilever
Abstract Cell mechanics is essential for understanding cellular motion, function and disease, and relies on measuring forces ranging from piconewtons to micronewtons in liquid environments. Yet, despite extensive technological developments, precisely monitoring cellular forces without perturbing their natural motion remains challenging, requiring a highly adaptable force sensor with piconewton-level sensitivity.

Minimizing strain for ultra-stable tin perovskite LEDs
Abstract Strain in crystalline materials refers to the deviation of lattice sites from their ideal equilibrium positions. In crystalline semiconductors, the reliable management of strain is vital for simultaneously achieving high electronic quality and structural robustness. For metal halide perovskites, the complexity of material composition and crystallization dynamics introduces substantial challenges in strain engineering, hampering the long-term stability of perovskite devices.
Sub-100-nanometre quantum-dot LEDs - Nature Photonics
A capillary-driven nanoimprint technology creates high-efficiency nanoscale quantum-dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs) with sub-100-nm pixels, enabling ultrahigh resolutions of nearly 170,000 pixels per inch (PPI) for next-generation displays.

Continuous-wave perovskite polariton lasers
Abstract Solution-processed semiconductor lasers are next-generation light sources for large-scale, bio-compatible and integrated photonics. However, overcoming their performance-cost trade-off to rival III-V laser functionalities is a long-standing challenge. Here, we demonstrate room-temperature continuous-wave perovskite polariton lasers exhibiting remarkably low thresholds of ~0.4 W cm−2, enabled by a variable single-crystal perovskite microcavity.
High-efficiency and thermally stable FACsPbI3 perovskite photovoltaics - Nature
Abstract α-FA1-xCsxPbI3 is a promising absorber material for efficient and stable perovskite solar cells (PSCs)1,2. However, the most efficient α-FA1-xCsxPbI3 PSCs require the inclusion of methylammonium chloride (MACl) additive3,4, which generates volatile organic residues (i.e., MA) that limit device stability at elevated temperatures5.
Ultrastable near-infrared perovskite light-emitting diodes - Nature Photonics
Abstract Perovskite light-emitting diodes are an emerging light source technology. However, similar to perovskite solar cells, poor operational stability remains an obstacle for commercial applications.
Ultralow-voltage operation of light-emitting diodes - Nature Communications
Abstract For a light-emitting diode (LED) to generate light, the minimum voltage required is widely considered to be the emitter’s bandgap divided by the elementary charge. Here we show for many classes of LEDs, including those based on perovskite, organic, quantum-dot and III–V semiconductors, light emission can be observed at record-low voltages of 36–60% of their bandgaps, exhibiting a large apparent energy gain of 0.6–1.4 eV per photon.
Solution-processed green and blue quantum-dot light-emitting diodes with eliminated charge leakage - Nature Photonics
Abstract Quantum-dot light-emitting diodes (QD-LEDs) promise a new generation of efficient, low-cost, large-area and flexible electroluminescent devices. However, the inferior performance of green and blue QD-LEDs compared with their red counterpart is hindering the commercialization of QD-LEDs in display and solid-state lighting applications. Here we demonstrate green and blue QD-LEDs with ~100% conversion of the injected charge carriers into emissive excitons.

High-performance light-emitting diodes based on carbene-metal-amides
The efficiency of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) is fundamentally governed by the ratio of emissive singlet to dark triplet excitons that are formed from spin-polarized electron and hole currents within the material. Typically, this has set an upper limit of 25% internal quantum efficiency for OLEDs. Di et al. manipulated the ratio of spin states through a modification of process chemistry.
High-performance light-emitting diodes based on carbene-metal-amides
Organic LEDs promise highly efficient lighting and display technologies. We introduce a new class of linear donor-bridge-acceptor light-emitting molecules, which enable solution-processed LEDs with near-100% internal quantum efficiency at high brightness. Key to this performance is their rapid and efficient utilization of triplet states.
On the Energetics of Bound Charge-Transfer States in Organic Photovoltaics
A comprehensive understanding of the charge generation mechanism in organic solar cells is critical for further improvement of device performance. Currently, the origin and magnitude of the Coulombic binding energy of the charge-transfer state (CTS), an intermediate state which is fundamental for the charge separation process, are still under debate.
PCDTBT: From Polymer Photovoltaics to Light-Emitting Diodes by Side-Chain-Controlled Luminescence
Poly[N-9?-heptadecanyl-2,7-carbazole-alt-5,5-(4?,7?-di-2-thienyl-2?,1?,3?-benzothiadiazole) (PCDTBT) is a copolymer composed of alternating thiophene–benzothiadiazole–thiophene (TBT) and carbazole (Cbz) repeat units widely used for stable organic photovoltaics. However, the solubility of PCDTBT is limited, which decreases polymer yield and makes synthesis and purification tedious.
