Wireless electromyography (EMG) interfaces must balance electrode coverage against transmission bandwidth. Here, we show that compact EMG tokens substantially reduce payload while retaining information for three-dimensional hand-pose decoding. We evaluate two causal tokenizers fitted without pose labels: an encoder pretrained to reconstruct EMG spectra and one based on SPAR, an engineered spectral-spatial representation of neighbouring electrodes.

Feeling the weight of post-COVID fatigue
Understanding the pathophysiology of fatigue in long-term medical conditions, where chronic fatigue is a major symptom, is an important first step towards developing targeted therapeutic interventions. Whilst fatigue is likely to be multi-factorial, one testable mechanism posits that individuals experience fatigue because of the failure of the sensory system to judge the effort required for action. Consequently, movement is less efficient and perceived to require more effort, exacerbating fatigue.

Fibrillary glomerulonephritis: Lessons from anti-CD20 therapy and repeat biopsy
Fibrillary glomerulonephritis (FGN) is characterized by a severe renal prognosis. There is not uniformity of consensus regarding therapeutic treatment. Several reports on the effectiveness of rituximab have been published, but showed different rate of renal response. This paper aims to evaluate the clinical and histological effects of two rituximab-based regimens in fibrillary glomerulonephritis. Twenty-one patients with diagnosis of FGN managed in a single Center (1996–2023), were identified.
Surveillance of influenza viruses circulating from 2017/2018 to 2023/2024 seasons in Veneto Region, North-East Italy - Virology Journal
Influenza is a severe public health problem due to the high number of hospitalizations and deaths. Most influenza-associated deaths occur among people aged 65 and older. Although the disease can be prevented with vaccination, prevention programs are below the desirable threshold due to vaccine hesitancy and no-vax theory. Additionally, the antigenic variations of influenza viruses pose a significant obstacle for the immunization of the population, reducing confidence in vaccination practices [11].

Decoding the molecular, cellular, and functional heterogeneity of zebrafish intracardiac nervous system - Nature Communications
Abstract The proper functioning of the heart relies on the intricate interplay between the central nervous system and the local neuronal networks within the heart itself. While the central innervation of the heart has been extensively studied, the organization and functionality of the intracardiac nervous system (IcNS) remain largely unexplored. Here, we present a comprehensive taxonomy of the IcNS, utilizing single-cell RNA sequencing, anatomical studies, and electrophysiological techniques.

Women of European Renal Association (WERA) task force: together for more awareness towards gender balance in nephrology
Men and women are genetically different, no doubt. How this translates into different human behaviour and professional abilities has been the matter of philosophical and scientific discussion over centuries. Back in ancient times, the Greek philosopher Socrates believed that a person's nature is revealed only when tested. If women received the same education as men, nothing would prevent them from becoming doctors, musicians, philosophers, warriors. This would benefit the entire society.

Iron biology
Iron is a fundamental element for biological life, starting from bacteria till humans. Iron is essential for cell function and survival, energy production and metabolism, whereas increased levels cause oxidative stress. It is also a constituent of haemoglobin and thus it is necessary for oxygen transportation through the body.
Hypoxia-inducible factor prolyl hydroxylase inhibitors for anaemia in chronic kidney disease: a document by the European Renal Best Practice board of the European Renal Association
Anaemia is a common complication of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and is associated with poor long-term outcomes and quality of life. The use of supplemental iron, erythropoiesis stimulating agents (ESAs) and blood transfusions has been the mainstay of treatment of anaemia in CKD for more than three decades. Despite available treatments, CKD patients with anaemia are undertreated and moderate-to-severe anaemia remains prevalent in the CKD population.

Mechanism of action of therapeutic peptides: from membranes to intracellular targets
Therapeutic peptides have emerged as promising candidates to combat diseases such as cancer and viral infections. Among them, host defense peptides (HDPs) are evolutionary conserved molecules with anticancer, antimicrobial and antiviral properties. This PhD thesis focuses on non-membranolytic HDPs, particularly LL-III, and their ability to interact with both cellular membranes and intracellular targets.
Anatomo-functional basis of emotional and motor resonance elicited by facial expressions
Simulation theories predict that the observation of other’s expressions modulates neural activity in the same centers controlling their production. This hypothesis has been developed by two models, postulating that the visual input is directly projected either to the motor system for action recognition (motor resonance) or to emotional/interoceptive regions for emotional contagion and social synchronization (emotional resonance).

Cardio-renoprotective effects of SGLT2 inhibitors-the role of anaemia correction
Sodium/glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) slow the progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and heart failure without the risk of concomitant hyperkalaemia and with a lower risk of developing acute kidney injury than renin–angiotensin system (RAS) inhibitors. Apart from their impressive cardio-renal protection, SGLT2i have several pleiotropic effects of interest to nephrologists, especially regarding one of the most common and important complications of CKD, anaemia.
