Mama Winnie would be championing political, economic stability: Ramaphosa Mama Winnie, as she was affectionately known, died at the age of 81. She was hospitalised on several occasions as she had been suffering from multiple illnesses.

As it does this – it is honouring those who conceptualised the idea – those responsible for its being – and those who played a part in the last 20 years. Freedom Park is a memorial to honour those who sacrificed their lives to win freedom. The celebration is also to advance the uniqueness of the park – as a place of healing.
