BELOIT, Wis. (WREX) — The Beloit Club is hosting an American Junior Golf Association girls tournament this week, bringing young golfers from across the country and around the world to the area. Seventy-seven girls between the ages of 12 and 15 are competing in the tournament. Most of them are from out of town, filling Beloit area hotels and restaurants this week. "We've got 21 states represented and five foreign countries that are also here," Matthew Bosen said.

The regional meet will bring more than 1,500 athletes to Rockford this weekend. ROCKFORD (WREX) — Almost 100 athletes from the Rockford FIRE track and field team are competing in this weekend's AAU Track and Field Regional Meet at Clarence Hicks Sports Complex. The meet leads directly to the Junior Olympics in Iowa later this summer. More than 1,500 athletes and their families are expected at the complex this weekend. This is the second major AAU track meet the facility has hosted this summer.

ROCKFORD (WREX) — Tim Romanello is leaving Rock Valley College to become the associate head coach for Purdue Fort Wayne. Romanello led the men's soccer team to two national tournaments and coached the women's team for one season coming out of the pandemic. The RVC coaching staff is a tight-knit group, with coaches helping out with gameday operations for other sports.
