(WTVG) - It’s a phrase that might get you singing a certain Johnny Cash song, or perhaps you’ll think of the high volume of volcanoes around the rim of the Pacific Ocean. But my degree is in Atmospheric Science, so when I say “ring of fire,” I’m talking about a specific type of weather pattern that can occur during the heat of the summer. As a heat dome forms underneath an upper-level ridge, the air within the heat dome is often hot and humid, but also sinking, meaning that no storms can form.

Highs Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the upper 90s with blazing sunshine, tropical humidity, and feels-like temps of 100 to 110 each afternoon.
