NEW YORK (AP) — Luigi Mangione’s federal trial in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson will now begin in January instead of the fall, a judge said Monday at a hearing that started late because Mangione got stuck in a courthouse elevator. U.S. District Judge Margaret Garnett said she was postponing the federal trial so Mangione’s lawyers can focus on his state murder trial, which is scheduled to begin on Sept. 8. Jury selection in the federal case will begin on Jan. 5, instead of Oct.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (CNN) — First responders rescued a driver from a sinking car, body-worn camera footage shows. Officers waded into the water after removing their vests, linked arms and formed a human chain to reach the vehicle. They pulled the driver from the car before additional officers entered the pond to help bring everyone back to dry land. The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department said the driver was treated for minor injuries.

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/Gray News) - A tip from a good Samaritan led to the U.S. Coast Guard recovering a package containing 50 pounds of marijuana from the Gulf last week. The U.S. Coast Guard Station Panama City said it received a notification at about 1 p.m. June 26, from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The notification reported a possible narcotics bale floating 13 nautical miles offshore in the Gulf, south of Panama City Beach.
